you don't trust Ainge to make the right pick.

I don't.

He has screwed up the last five drafts in a row

Rozier over Portis

Smart over J Randle

James Young over ....several guys, with the biggest miss being Jordan Clarkson

KO over Giannis, Dieng, Plumlee, and Gobert

Sully and F Melo over Jae Crowder and Draymond Green

JuJuan Johnson over Jimmy Butler and Chandler Parsons

The last time he did well was Avery Bradley. And in that draft he could have had Hassan Whiteside.

He didn't pick in 2009

In 08 he went with Jr Giddens over DeAndre Jordan, Omer Asik, and Pekovic

He hasn't hit a home run since Rondo.

Ainge doesn't trust himself to make the pick which is why he will work like hell to trade it

i don't trust his selection process either.   he's not horrible but he hasn't been finding hidden talent.   i really want them to trade it.

He's a far better trader than drafter.

The list doesn't stop there either.

He did well on Al Jefferson and Tony Allen and Delonte. That was a very very long time ago and sometimes I wonder if he still takes Al Jefferson if Robert Swift and Sebastian Telfair wasn't taken just a couple picks before. Also could have had Kevin Martin over Tony Allen or Delonte

He screwed up Marcus Banks

Then there was Gerald Green over Nate Robinson, Jarrett Jack, Linas Kleiza and David Lee

There was Justin Reed over Trevor Ariza

I give him a solid grade on Perkins (which was a trade) although two picks after Perk was Josh Howard who went to an all star game

Absolutely horrible at drafting.  Especially after what I saw with roZier last year.  The last thing we needed was another guard and what does Danny get?  Another guard that was projected later in the draft.

He has to find guys that have that killer instinct like smart.  Bender doesn't have killer instinct.  Simmons does t either but that's Phillys problem.

Would not be one bit surprised he screws this draft up hoping to trade and we're stuck with guys on the bench helping else wallow around for more years of mediocrity.

Heild, Murray, Maker should be his top priorities. Period!

Even if he doesn't always get the player who was, in hindsight, the best available at the time, I think that getting the player who would be in the top three among those who could reasonably be considered as possible targets at the time should be considered a success.  I give Ainge a positive grade as a drafter for moving up to take Olynyk.

Ainge absolutely absolutely must get the 3rd best player in this draft or if there are 4 future HOFers he can get the 4th best maybe.

That's all there is to it if he keeps the pick. If not you ship the pick and one of his other busts like KO or someone out of town for something very good if at all possible

In his defense, maybe jj, sully, and melo were more picks out of need because we still had remnants of championship team there and we kinda put our hope in sleepy green to step up and fill pierces role. Thanks for nothing Jeff. >:(. Last years choice was stupid

I don't think you can say KO was one of the top 3 available at that point.

Let's say that I am not 100% convinced that Giannis will have a better career than Olynyk and Gobert is the only guy drafted behind them that I would trade Olynyk straight-up for.
