The Knicks will give Turner 4 years 60 million.

Maybe we can trade for Robin Lopez and they can sign Sully for another 48 million.

I wonder if we could do something creative, like see if he would accept a cheap one year deal. Then we could get his bird rights (3 years with same team) and then sign him over the cap the following year, after maxing out our cap either through trades or free agency.

I think that could work. I wonder if I'm missing any technical or practical details that make this unlikely.

A lot will depend on free agency.  We will probably have room to bring ET back for the Early Bird exception even if we get two max players.  That exact dollar amount won't be known until the final account is calculated, but I would be very surprised if year 1 was more than $6.5 million, meaning 4 years could be worth up to $29 million.

The Early Bird rights require any deal to be at least two years, not counting any options.  If ET is willing to come back for that, I'd be pleased.  If some team offers him $10 million a year, we can't compete.  I don't think he'll get that much, however.

I just don't see how he won't take a bigger offer.  And as I keep saying, his presence limits Smart.  Hopefully we have new actual wings to put in the rotation vs Turner as a big guard.

They want him and with CRAZY money this summer he is gone. We need to not let JJ and Amir go either. I do not see a KD signing with us. These two have value with their options. As soon As KD says "no" we need to keep them for another year. Q offer Sully and Zeller just in case no one gives them money and we have a bench. Trade for Butler if we can. As soon As Noah and Gasol sign elsewhere (Minny and SA) the Bulls will trade and rebuild IMO.

Man, I don't know how to feel on this. ET has really grown on me. He's helped us out in so many ways these 2 seasons. He's singlehandedly won us games with his nifty behind the back move and his pull-up jump shots. He's also been somewhat of an impediment to getting smart full time on the ball duties. And he's gonna be expensive.

This is going to be a tough decision for Danny this summer.

I don't think you can blame Turner for holding Smart back.  It's up to Smart to earn respect from coach Stevens and convince him that he's ready for a bigger role.  If he's not getting minutes as a primary ball handler yet is because he hasn't done that yet. 

We desperately need a backup small forward.  When smart earns reflect as a ball handler Turner will slip in to that backup SF role.

Either way Turner's been a key piece to this team's success since he came here.

If Danny is going to give Turner any more than a Amir Johnson type contract, he needs to believe that he is actually going to continue to improve. Because I don't think Evan Turner is an important enough player to justify sinking that much money into (increased salary cap be [dang]ed) when this team is already heavy on wings and quite possibly might get heavier via free agency, trades, or the draft.

   I blame Stevens for holding Smart back and putting him ( a bad shooter) sitting in the corner when turner( not part of the future) handles the ball I stead of smart who should have been taking his lumps at point. Nothing new from coach though. Earn minutes my ass. Sully earned squat coming in fat and Olynyk rides the pine .
