The San Antonio Spurs plan on pursuing Mike Conley in free agency.

Conley will be a free agent for the first time in his career after being drafted in 2007 by the Memphis Grizzlies.

Conley is widely considered one of the NBA's best players to never play in an All-Star Game.

Conley is several years younger than Tony Parker, who remains signed with the team through the 17-18 season.

So would Duncan want to return if they can land him?

Might as well say sign. Who turns down the Spurs?

Didn't know that. Old Kidd or prime?

Conley leaving could be good for us. If he goes they probably would be more receptive to trading Gasol right?

Even if Gasol isn't traded Conley leaving would really help our pick.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I would think so as far a trying to rebuild but it's a business and they want to sell tickets still. Don't feel a low market team can go without a star.

2003, so just after his peak, but still all-star caliber for several more seasons.

They couldn't sign both.

Wonder if he regrets that choice.

I would be super pleased if this happened.

Conley makes a lot of sense as a Spur.

and it might weaken the grizzlies, making them a lottery team when the celtics get their pick.

tis the season to dream.  ;D

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Does Conley leaving help or hurt our pick?

Do we want Memphis to bottom out, or to be stuck in mediocrity with an aging roster?

We want them to be bad but not so bad the pick doesn't convey, right?  Unless they somehow stay truly awful long enough for it to be unprotected in like 2021 or whatever.  Isn't that how it works?

I get the sense Memphis will try to remain respectable, even if Conley leaves and they deal Gasol.

But in general I think it's safest with future picks to hope for a late lottery pick and be pleasantly surprised if it works out better than that.

Hopefully Memphis signs him to a long term max deal!
