Everyone knows about this guys physical measurements by now.   In the Rudy Gobert like category.

But unlike Gobert, Qi has perimeter skills.   Good looking straight line drives going either left or right /able to finish left or right,  can dribble stop and pop (this will be insanely tough to stop), has long range shooting capability (shot 60 percent (3 pt shooting drill).

Reading is competitive and has a good motor.    The bad part is that he is only 218 pounds.  Also comparison to another Chinese player (Yi Jianlian - you just can't help) has been brought up.  They both have excellent size, some SF like skills . But Yi Jianlian did not last in the NBA.  Jianlian though does not have a 7'7 wingspan and 9'4 reach,  has broader shoulders, heavier when he 1st came in.  But perhaps due to difficulty adapting to the "NA" game or because he couldn't speak english, he failed to make an impact

Maybe teams are better equipped to integrate such player into their teams now?

Again the good things about Qi is his ridiculous physical tools.  And he is agile, mobile and can jump.  Excellent shot blocker and going by draftexpress scouting report is also a good offensive/defensive rebounder.  Even though he is 218 pounds currently he doesn't shy away from physical contact

The bad - gets pushed around by bigger players (and also could of played out of position - C vs PF) , uncertainty how he will adapt to the NBA game.  To start he needs to add 30 pounds of muscle (no easy task)

You put everything together still you have many GMs intrigued.  I couldn't imagine Danny is not.   He is projected to go 28 now.  But could be chosen much higher come draft night.   Danny prob takes him at 23 if still available?

I want him bad at this point. I'd take him at 16 if needed.

wow.  But I understand

If he was even 230 pounds right now,  I think he would be in consideration for a top 15 pick.

He is one of those super "modern" 4/5 ppl have been talking about these days.

Someone will take a flyer on him, I 'd say 13-20 range.

maybe~  Danny will choose him at 23 I predict

He is a project though no doubt.  Especially needing to add weight.

Maybe buy him a gym and add a Bed

His weight is a huge concern, but imagine what player he could be if he weighted around 230-240 ibs. Definitely wouldn't pick him with #16, but I would consider him at #23 depending on what's left when we pick.

Would you rather take him or Maker at 23?
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

you do realize that qi's defense is awful. 16 is way to early for this guy.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

His defense is awful? Wait. What? I'm not pretending I've seen more than His highlights, but I thought that's the reason to draft him, he has Gobert like length and moves possibly better. His lateral quickness looks very good as well.
I'm sure he can get bullied by stronger guys, but weak side shot blocking should be very good.

Tell me what you know, I'm listening. My point is If someone is taking him before 23 then you may have to use 16 ala Terry Rozier.

Is there any info on his willingness to be a draft and stash? And if so, where? From what I hear of the CBA (Chinese league), Im not sure thats a great place to stash an 18/ 19 yr old you want to be developing. Is it even possible to stash a first round pick in the NBADL? Am I wrong, or don't both Qi and Maker (among others) seem like big men who would definitely be better served taking 2-3 years developing away from the NBA before the start of the first contract.

exactly

if he avoided physical contact or didn't even  try . I would be really worried

but from what I read , he embraces physical contact and has a nice motor

adding strength is a key minus. But eventually you are hoping he is able to. And if he does, just wow

if he can't well he will be gone as fast as YI Jianlian left

He had mediocre production in a vastly inferior league, so I'm not all that excited.  I wouldn't want to use anything before a late first on him.
