http://nba.nbcsports.com/2016/05/13/rumor-demar-derozan-wants-to-sign-with-lakers/

Yet another report has come out that Derozan is as good as gone this offseason. He's from the LA area, has family there, and has apparently always wanted to play for the Lakers. Being someone that is currently living across the country from his hometown and most of his family, I totally understand wanting to go home.

So let's just assume that this is true and he wants to return home and play in Los Angeles:

First, would the Clips be possibly interested in a sign-and-trade with Derozan? They don't have the cap space to sign him as a free agent, but would they consider moving Griffin or Jordan to Toronto in a sign-and-trade for something like Griffin for S&T Derozan, Patterson, and their lottery pick they're getting this year? They'd finally get an actual good wing to work with, and Patterson stretches the floor enough to work with Jordan. Is that enough for Griffin?

Second, if Derozan would leave for the Lakers, what will Toronto do? If Derozan and Biyombo both opt out, they'll have around $60M in guaranteed contracts. I don't see Durant as a legitimate option, especially with Derozan gone. Who would make sense for them at the wing positions to try and replace Derozan? Barnes? Parsons? Batum?

Trade pick 9 for AB and KO if possible.

It makes zero sense for the Clippers to trade Griffin for a guy who will be a free agent AND is also an inferior player.

I can see Derozan going to the Lakers, and there's really nothing Toronto can do about it. They may throw money at Harrison Barnes to compensate, and hope that Barnes can make a leap as a primary option.

People underrate AB a lot. That'd be a massive overpay.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Oh I don't think that is final deal. Plus it's in division Raptors would have to likely thrown in more. Just the main pieces

Seems like it's just another article latching onto the initial rumor started by Steven A. Smith. Not sure how much credence I put into that.

If I was derozan, no way I pick the fakers. That team has been a train wreck the past few years, and who would want to go from a winning situation to that dumpster fire?

Clippers are a different story. I guess the question becomes do the clippers have to move jordan or griffin to make room? Or do they gut their team and send picks to the raptors to get a sign and trade to work. Paul/reddick/derozan/griffin/jordan is scary.

Free agent season.

Everyone is either going to the Lakers or the Knicks.

And the Celtics get a lot of canceled visits.

I don't think they could gut their team enough to add Derozan to Griffin, Jordan, Paul, and reddick. One of those pieces has to go.

I trust Stephen A on this kind of stuff. He's been right a lot of times.

I'm not sure what you're saying here about the free agent part. They have absolutely no room (and can't create enough room) to sign Derozan outright, so they'd have to do a sign and trade for him to nab him.

Also, many consider Griffin a top-5 player, so it'd be pretty hard to trade him without receiving an inferior player in return. But that core just isn't getting it done. I don't necessarily know if it's a good move or not for the Clippers, but as is they're not getting past the Warriors. So they either try to stay the course once again, or they try a shake-up.

Maybe a DJ deal is more feasible - Jordan and Reddick for Derozan and Valanciunas?
