There's not many things that Poeltl can't do on the court. He's the epitome of a modern day center - agile/quick on his feet, can switch on defense, runs the court, can protect the rim. Even has shown great development in his mid range game. He's far and away the best Center prospect in the draft in my eyes, a position the Celtics haven't had any luck filling since the end of the Kendrick Perkins era.

Danny had no luck moving up from 16 last year to grab Winslow, but with even more assets this year, i could see the Celtics ending up with another pick in the top 10.

My thought is that the Celtics best chance to move up and grab this guy is a trade with Toronto at 9. The top 7 is pretty well established i think. I see it going..Simmons-Ingram-Murray-Brown-Dunn-Bender-Hield. I doubt Sacramento takes Poeltl at 8 seeing as they drafted Cauley-Stein last year.

I understand that this all depends on how the lottery plays out. But let's say the Celtics end up with the 5th or 6th pick (what i'm mentally preparing myself for) and take Hield. That makes Bradley expendable in my eyes, and i could see Toronto as one team who would love Averys services given their lack of guard depth on the bench. Would they be willing to move down 7 spots for a Bradley over Joseph upgrade?

Bradley + 16 + 23 for 9th and Joseph?

Interesting. That might work, because Bradley could certainly be sold as a potential replacement for Derozan, too.

However, I'd only do this if we were sure that we weren't going to make any free agent splashes or big trades this summer. Hell, if we lucked out and got a top-two pick along with trading for Poeltl, we'd actually upgrade quite a bit while also enhancing our future. Let's say we got the number two pick, imagine this lineup:

PG: IT, Rozier
SG: Smart, Joseph, Hunter
SF: Ingram, Turner, Young
PF: Crowder, KO, Mickey
C: Poeltl, Amir

That's actually an exciting looking core for both the present and the future, and hell, if we got the first pick and took Simmons, then we now have our frontcourt of the future, too.

Does the cost of losing Bradley justify the price tag on Poeltl, when Sabonis might be there at #16?

I would trade picks to move up.  I wouldn't move Avery, though.

Poetl is so average.

Average compared to what?

If he turns into an average starting center, we could definitely use him.

Poetl is so average.

Exactly.  Tyler Zeller part 2

He has little offensive skills. No go to move.  Jump shot is suspect

Defensively I would say also he has a little better potential than Zeller. But no anchor material or anything. Not in The nba

My hope is that we can move up for someone by packaging our non Brooklyn picks with a guy like James Young.

Teams like Sacramento and New Orleans might be a good fit for that type of package.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I agree with what Roy said..  An average starting center would be an upgrade for the Celts.

I think Poeltl could be a valuable contributor who addresses some significant flaws of the current roster.

I see Poeltl as a legitimate starting C in the NBA a la Andrew Bogut/J. Valanciunas. I only see Sabonis as an energy guy off the bench at best, a Nick Collison type.

I don't know. NO at #6 and SAC at #8. I don't think Young is much enticement to drop ~10 slots and a couple tiers, even if they pick up another late 1st for the trouble.

Might take someone like Rozier to move up from #16.

Classic mid teen pick. But some dummy team will reach for him at 7-10 range

No exceptional length , strength, skills , passing skills/top iq, handles

Sabonis picked him apart round of 32.

So no , don't trade up, for him. Stay away

I would only consider picks in a move ups right now. Team is over loaded with picks. See which team doesn't mind a few extra picks to move down 4 spots.

Yeah, you are probably right. If Sac gets jumped by a team or two that might make more sense. Although that would be terrible for the Brooklyn pick.

I just read some comments about agents viewing SAC as the "most dysfunctional franchise" in the NBA. One agent quoted as saying it would be "malpractice" to send his client there.

If that is a prevalent view, maybe SAC will feel pressured to move the pick for an established player under contract (team control)?
