Scott Skiles has informed the Orlando Magic that he is stepping down as head coach. The Magic will begin a search effective immediately.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
This now becomes the most desirable coaching position available. I think Vogel and the Magic are a perfect match.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Wow.

Apparently, Hennigan is in Chicago right now for the draft combine too.

Amazingly, 11 of the 30 head coaches that started the 2015-16 season are no longer with their respective teams. Crazy biz.

Wait 12 head coaches! Blatt, Wittman, Skiles, McHale, Joerger, Vogel, Hollins, Karl, Fisher, Scott, Mitchell, Hornacek. That's 40% turnover.

Why would he leave? I wonder if he's off somewhere else or whether there were problems behind the scenes

Woah! Does anyone know the reason behind it?

Just makes you appreciate the stability in our organization, especially our ownership, management, and coaching staff.

He must have a promise to coach somewhere else, because I can't see him voluntarily giving up that much money just for not being "the right fit for the team."

Makes you really appreciate how stable the Celtics are.  A lot of change for change's sake this year.

Orlando presumably would be able to block such a move if they desire, unless it's college.

Yeah, exactly - that's why they have contracts. I suppose they could go the Doc Rivers route and trade him to his preferred destination.

It's really too bad. Ironically, he seemed like a great fit for that team (to me, from afar). I guess it will be interesting to read the details as they are released (because they will be).
