WAtched game 5 tonight and the only reason I can see is he wants to get out of the western conference.  It's a tough road every year having to go through teams like GS and SA although SA is aging.  The east really has Cleveland and that's it.

I don't see him coming here though unless we can put together a really good team though. Westbrook, Durant, Ibaka, and Adams is a really good 4 that we can't compete with right now.  KG left Minny because he wasn't able to win there with a similar core at their best, but his team was really declining and bad at the time.

I agree -  I don't see Durant leaving this season. If I were him, I'd sign a one year deal in OKC. Boston needs to improve next year, win 53 or 55 games, and we'll have a shot at him.

It seems to me like his most likely suiters are still OKC unless he decides to join forces with San Antonio or GS is what I'm saying.  Boston and LA are two markets on the outside looking in even still.

The media likes to run with this stuff when a lot of the time it's a non story.  It's good ratings for web sites and added clicks for advertising.

Yes he's a free agent but I feel like the actual story here is much smaller than it seems.

He would be nuts to go to LA. That's a young and immature team with no coach. I don't really see where he would go besides Boston, but I just don't see him leaving OKC. If I were him, I'd re-sign in OKC under the condition that they fire Donovan and hire Frank Vogel.

Only reason I see him leaving OKC is if 1. its a better situation for him somewhere else, or 2. there is some financial reason going on I'm not aware of where OKC doesn't want to pay him.

If they had a better coach these years they could have had at least 1 ring, possibly more. I don't know how much more KD can stand PnR and iso every possession, with no supporting cast to help him besides the volatile Russell Westbrook.

But then again, maybe he likes it like that...
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Steven Adams is really good too. No doubt he'll have a better chance at winning a ring with OKC than with Boston next year, but long term he's gotta think hard about the coaching + management situation. OKC's management team is great at drafting and awful at everything else.

Fire Donovan? Is that a joke? He's outcoached Pop from Game 2 on.

Unfortunately, I think we have little chance of seeing Durant leave after watching this series. Even if the Spurs pull off the comeback, and I like their chances, one has to think that Durant believes OKC is his best shot at a championship while being "the man"...

if so, he doesnt know whats truly best for him.

Joining either SA or GS would only tarnish his reputation. Unlike LMA, he's an MVP caliber player. If Lebron gets a flack for forming a superstar team, Durant should get as much.

He won't...

OKC seems to have finally found a coach that fits them, Westbrook is at his best, and OKC fans adore KD. And they are leading the series against SAS.

The only way I see it is if OKC doesn't want to pay him. I don't know what his max is in his next contract but there might be some financial reason why OKC doesn't want to do it.  I haven't heard that at all though.

They didn't want to pay the tax on harden but the salary cap is supposed to go up a huge amount next year.  They are paying the tax on Kanter now I think and hired Donovan in order to keep Durant.
