Is Jimmy Butler even a good fit for us?

If we were to get KD, is there enough time for Butler, IT, KD to share the ball?

Also what about that leadership saga, will he be happy being the 2nd or even 3rd man in a celtics team?

Those 3 players can handle the ball, penetrate in the paint and shoot the 3s.
Pair those with bigs that can stretch the floor and you have an unstoppable offense.
I don't think any of the players would complain about that.

I think people need to separate Butler from Durant.  It is two completely different questions.  Butler would be an improvement for the Celtics.  He would provide some back court length and scoring.  I don't even think that is a question.  The real question would be what do we need to give up to get him to which the answer is probably too much.

Jimmy Butler is a very well-rounded player who can play with just about anybody.

There were some fit problems on the Bulls but they were not Butler's fault. They were D-Rose's. Rose, unlike Butler, is not a well-rounded offensive player. Even worse, post-injury Rose can no longer justify hogging the ball because he is no longer effective enough offensively to do so.

Jimmy Butler would be a great addition for the Celtics. If other players struggle to play with him, it is because of their limitations. Not Butler's. And that is their fault. Not Butler's.

Butler alone not figuring in the Durant pipe dream is a great fit with the Cs. Butler and Turner are actually very similar in that they are at there best with the ball. I think this is actually a good fit for this team. The Cs effectively used Turner as the primary ball handler this season when IT wasnt on the court. Butler would take this 2nd unit role along with playing off the ball with IT. Another thing that shouldn't be overlooked from the ATL series is ITs ability to play off the ball. This is a wrinkle of the offense that I think should be further explored next season. At his diminutive size IT is a very tough guard moving off the ball.

We have to be willing to take a step back to move forward. If we are adding butler I'd really try to hold onto IT. Other than that we have to be willing to give up a lot and that could make us worse in the short term.

I don't really think there's many trades for top 10/15 players where we are giving up 'too much' unless it's a top 2 pick this year. Even then would everyone really be up in arms if we got Jimmy Butler for the Brooklyn pick+ scraps?

Having so many picks and young players is very powerful and can get a lot of deals over the line that might not normally get there. If you think about it, there is going to be a point where Ainge either has to make the picks, or slightly over pay someone in a trade by using those picks.

eg pick #3+Rozier+Bradley might not work for Butler but pick#3+Rozier+Bradley+Memphis pick (a VERY valuable commodity right now given Memphis organizational status) could really get us over the line.

He is close to a perfect fit for us.

He's a 20 PPG scorer who also plays All-NBA calibre defence, who his an outstanding motor and work ethic, who can shoot the three with some consistency.

Not quite a dead-on perfect fit (since he's not a lights out three point shooter) but pretty darn close.  Man has 'Celtic' written all over him.

Considering our absolute shooting ineptitude, I think the only way the price could possibly strike me as too much is if the first or second pick in the draft was involved.

As for the current roster, there's no one outside of IT I wouldn't be willing to move in a deal for Butler. They are all disposable.

How did we ever manage to get Kevin Garnet, Paul Peirce n Ray Allen to share the ball ? What we need are players willing to buy into Stevens system and play team ball. If Kevin Durrant doesn't want to share the ball then I'd rather just keep our draft picks n build chemistry.

We need scorers! But Im not sold on Butler being a big improvement for us. I would prefer us targeting difference makers in the front court than a wing where we are solid and improving. Butler's defense isn't better than Bradley's or Crowder's.

Signing a Ryan Anderson and a legitimate rim protector may yield better results than getting Butler but losing Crowder, Bradley and top-3 draft pick.

Signing Anderson and drafting a Hield, Deyonta or Poeltl preserves the team's core and add talents at positions of need.
