It would be surprising if Durant leaves this year, he must likely takes the one year deal and enters Free Agency with Russell.
It may be wise to sign someone to an Amir Johnson like contract and maintain flexibility for next year.
We could move Thomas if Russell and Durant came to Boston.

 Durant Crowder
 Bradley Smart
 Westbrook Rozier

Not hard to build around that core, plus we still have the Nets pick hopefully Simmons if not Murray, Hield, or Poeltl.

Whilst I think we have a chance at Durant I do not think we have a chance at Westbrook. If Westbrook decides to leave OKC I think he'll head to where he can be the number 1 guy. He's certainly good enough. I don't think he's unhapppy alongside Durant but if they were to leave that situation I think he sees it as an opportunity to break out on his own.

We do have a chance, listen KD and Westbrook are the Thunder. If those guys both came out East, they would be in the Finals every year, or darn close to every year.
Only one team in the way, and Lebron is getting old Fast.

Yeah, I'm pretty set on the belief that Durant and Westbrook ultimately don't work well together. Durant needs to be surrounded by #2 options where he can truly shine. We saw the other night what happens when he's allowed to shine and Westbrook doesn't try to do too much.

And that's not a knock on Westbrook, either. He's MVP-type talent himself, but he doesn't seem to be the type to take a back seat to another star.

But if Durant would up long-term this year with OKC or another team, I would definitely go after Westbrook in 2017. I just don't want them together on the same team anymore - takes away from the greatness of both of them.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Good points Potter, but maybe Westbrook just needs a young genius head coach like Brad.

I agree we should save cap space, and Amir-style contracts could be the clear play. I don't think we'll end up with Westbrook, but maybe CP3 or Blake could come here with Durant...

Yeah I agree with that. But its always been a strained fit for those two. They are both alphas. In fact they've both shown incredible maturity to work with each other for so long. I just can't shake the feeling that Westbrook would like to be the alpha dog on his own team. I only think that happens if Durant leaves though. If Durant stays then Westbrook stays too.

Westbrook is not gonna leave OKC n I think if KD stays one more year, he's trapped in OKC as well. I really don't think Boston or any team in the east will get either of them. I feel they will stay with OKC. Look, I know KD in a Celtics uniform would be great but let's not get our hopes up. There are other ways this team can go. I hope we don't settle for aging guys like Carmelo, Gasol or Howard. That would be a failure. I'd rather keep the draft picks and build a superstar...

For perspective purposes in terms of how many fanbases think they have a shot at KD
