Butler is only one year younger than Durant.

It really is interesting, how Butler has the perception of being a "young" guy, while Durant is an aging vet.  They're less than a year apart.

Durant is young in age but in his 10th year in the league he wants a title which without other experienced good players Celtics can't give. IF he comes to Boston he will not come to be part of building young team, he will come for title. My point in age was that Durant has no patience to wait for young players to develop

Are Jimmy Butler's priorities something other than winning?  How is that a good thing?

If Durant signs here, it's because he trusts Danny and Brad to put the pieces around him to win a title.  Plus, he'd be under contract.  I don't see a negative to adding a competitive guy who wants to win.

I'm just saying there are 2 clear roads DA can go this summer. Experienced stars Durant, Horford, Howard... or trade all young assets to get some other experienced stars. Or the second road is continue  to build this young team with talented young players.

Durant to Bos is not a negative thing but it could be negative if the team is not build the right way. But this team ads another expirienced star than Durant to Boston would be franchise changing moment.

Absolutely crazy as others have said. Durant would make Boston a destination for other stars to come to, which is huge with our cap space and war chest of draft picks.

We dont even know if KD is coming to Boston. If he does, its because Danny Ainge already traded for Cousins/Butler/Aldridge, signed Whitside and some outside shooting. Ainge might even blindside the fans with a trade we never thought was possible.

Blake Griffin, James Harden, Kevin Durrant. How's that for a central core to put alongside Isaiah, Smart, Crowder, Bradley ?

The only way Durant coming here might be a bad move is if it caused us to trade away a superstar top pick for a Kevin Love-style win-now vet acquisition (not saying Wiggins is a superstar, or Simmons/Ingram definitely will be).  Especially if KD's foot issues came back.  We'd really regret landing him then.  But that's such a slim possibility that it doesn't really merit passing on an HOF free agent.

Your second road is never, ever going to happen.

Than Durant coming to Boston would be the best thing ever. That was the whole idea of this post and i think you get it. It's not just sign Durant, you need to put him in the right situation.

Unless the Celtics add a another superstar, Durant won't consider coming here

He prob rather sign with GSW (who will lose Barnes, Iguadala)

or

Wizards -  hometown and brooks -   They will go hard after another key FA

Only on CelticsBlog would there be a thread about how it's a bad idea that a top 3 player in the NBA who is only 27 years old is a bad idea.

And I disagree with the notion he goes to Golden State. That makes him look worse than LeBron.  At least when LeBron went to Miami he took a good team and made it great. If Durant went to the Warriors, he'd be going to the best team in the NBA. What would that prove other than he would could ride Curry and Green's coat-tails to a title?

One top 5 player will draw in other top players. The C's are young, but not that young, we've experienced play-off ball the last two years. If we sign Durant and another decent shooter/scorer, plus get a center that can defend his space, and keep developing Smart, Mickey, and Rozier etc, we'll have enough to get to the finals in the weaker East.

Let Sully go, give KO another good look, and maybe sign Amir, or a similar type. This team will take 2 big steps forward.

This thread  ;D

I honestly do not get the logic of how Butler is the better fit in a roster already full with guards (and with only one good forward: Crowder)

What does he provide that Durant cannot provide? I mean, if you say, 'better fit' it implies there is something Butler does better than Durant (?)

Durant is only 5 months older than Isaiah Thomas and just under two years older than Crowder. Durant is also one month older than Evan Turner, two-and-a-half years older than Kelly Olynyk, and two years older than Avery Bradley. With the Celtics qualifying this past year as the league's youngest team, I'd say you are crazy to consider age a detrimental factor of signing Durant.

First of all Durant is fantastic player. Before the injury he was the best player in the league and i love his playing style. But now knowing there are at least small chances of him coming to BOS the more i'm thinking about how not good would that be in the long term.

Let me explain myself. Celtics are on a great building road. Young players, assets, high draft picks, salary cap... Great job by DA and we know he is looking to do something similar to 2007 but if only Ray or KG came to Boston in 2007, they wouldn't won a title.

My point is that Celtics are not one player away of title. If only Durant come to Boston i don't think that he would win a title, at least not in first year. So either DA makes 2 blockbuster moves or he will jeopardize the future. Why? Because Durant will be playing his 10th year in the league and he is not 25 anymore. He will not be patient and that will put pressure on everyone on this young team. Young players will stop developing and long term it will be bad id Durant get frustrated just like in OKC. So it's not simple just sign the best players.

Durant is far better player than Butler but i prefer Butler for this team. Butler makes more sense coming to Boston because he is younger and there is no pressure on winning in the first year. Also i don't want to sound pessimistic but Durant won't come to Boston unless another experienced star comes too.

There are two ways Celtics can go this summer. Sign experienced star players or sign young stars and continue building this young talented team.

You are in NO way crazy!!!  Durant is rated as the 150th best defender on ESPN's Real Plus/Minus!!  He simply does NOT defend!!!

Now that is not #269 like James Harden, who some people seem to be talking about us trading for, but it is pretty BAD!!!
