First of all Durant is fantastic player. Before the injury he was the best player in the league and i love his playing style. But now knowing there are at least small chances of him coming to BOS the more i'm thinking about how not good would that be in the long term.

Let me explain myself. Celtics are on a great building road. Young players, assets, high draft picks, salary cap... Great job by DA and we know he is looking to do something similar to 2007 but if only Ray or KG came to Boston in 2007, they wouldn't won a title.

My point is that Celtics are not one player away of title. If only Durant come to Boston i don't think that he would win a title, at least not in first year. So either DA makes 2 blockbuster moves or he will jeopardize the future. Why? Because Durant will be playing his 10th year in the league and he is not 25 anymore. He will not be patient and that will put pressure on everyone on this young team. Young players will stop developing and long term it will be bad id Durant get frustrated just like in OKC. So it's not simple just sign the best players.

Durant is far better player than Butler but i prefer Butler for this team. Butler makes more sense coming to Boston because he is younger and there is no pressure on winning in the first year. Also i don't want to sound pessimistic but Durant won't come to Boston unless another experienced star comes too.

There are two ways Celtics can go this summer. Sign experienced star players or sign young stars and continue building this young talented team.

ok crazy :o

Thanks, i will take this as a compliment :) I'm just saying it is not as simple as just sign the best players, this is a puzzle and Celtics need the right pieces that fits

I was with you until you said Durant < Butler

Durant is a top 5 player

Butler is at best top 10 (tbh I doubt he is even that)

As for the downside of KD coming to Boston, sure, nothing comes for free. I'm also worried that KD or another star comes here and then we still stay without a title + do not develop players

KD has also showed signs of bad decision making + bad behaviour during these playoffs.

But despite all that, if KD became available any GM would immediately throw the red carpet to welcome him; NBA is a stars game, you simply cannot say no to a top talent.

Butler is only one year younger than Durant.   I'll take Durant over Butler without hesitation.

Never said Durant < Butler. I said the opposite tha Durant is FAR the better player, but Butler is better fit for the team than Durant

;)

If you can add a top-3 player with nothing but cap space, you do it, regardless of whether he's the final piece of the puzzle.  We'd still have tons of cap flexibility and assets to finish off the roster.

Not getting that logic?

How is a top 5 player not a better fit?

This team needs a go to scorer more than anything , along with a rim protector .

It really is interesting, how Butler has the perception of being a "young" guy, while Durant is an aging vet.  They're less than a year apart.

Look at the talent OKC and CAVS have. Can they beat Spurs? No, they can't. So Durant didn't won a title with a super talented team and he will win with young Celtics team? I'm just thinking long term

Ummmm the Cavs are talented, but their roster doesn't make sense. As for your argument on the last sentence, yes I believe Durant could with a young Celtics team. Because it won't just be young only... If you snag a top 5 player with nothing but cap space, you have so much room to work with for assets for another star.

Ainge clearly knows what he's doing. If Ainge can trade for DMC, and Durant comes here. I would say next to Gsw/Spurs, we're the 3rd best team in the league, as long as chemistry is well and sound.

This is super young team and Durant will just put pressure on them to winning right away. I don't think this team is ready to win a title. If other experienced good players come it is diffrent story but if only Durant comes Celtics are still not winning title

What makes you think if Ainge signed Durant, that he would stay put with the same roster that got bounced out of the playoffs in the first round? And what makes you think Durant would even consider signing here if there weren't any roster changes in the first place?

IT         /Smart
AB        / Murray or Heild
KD        / Crowder
KO         / Mickey
Howard   / Vet min

That team is possible , and IMO can contend for a title next season

Just have to sign KD and Dwight to the max , keep our top 5 pick, or trade it for another piece if one becomes available .

All the role players would come to a team like that on vet min contracts.
