Do they perform the Canadian national anthem at away games, too? That's interesting.

That's why him and LeBron James are why I hate the Miami Heat, Cavaliers, and probably the NBA in general when it comes to divas. Bunch of disrespects and no class. I remember those two mocking Dirk Nowitzki's cough back in 2011- they deserved to lose that final!

Other sports such as boxing do that practice, even when the venue is neutral.

Holy overreaction guys. It looks like the anthem caught everybody off guard, wade was trying to get a last shot off and get in line. He kept missing them though and wanted to get one to drop first. Everyone knows your last shot has to go in to really cement your rhythm and feel. Y'all are acting like he was full blown saying Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. the anthem and shot through the whole thing. I'm sure he made one and got in line. Oh the horror.

I agree with gamehead's comment.

Add to this that I could care less if anyone wanted to shoot hoops while listening to my national anthem, I'd be perfectly fine.

It is a sign of disrespect period. If Raptors have any of their manhood left in them they should get a notice of this bs and trash them at home in game 4 also.

PS. If anything has left out of that Heat championship team from few years ago it's that complaining to the referees. Yuck.

I wonder how many of their players are from Canada and are genuinely offended by this?

I think it's extremely disrespectful.  Some things are bigger than the individual, or basketball.  The coaching staff should shut that down.

Why?  They play the American anthem when it's at Toronto, it makes sense it'd be reciprocated.  But I can see why the players wouldn't expect it if they don't play for the Raps.

Agree with the folks saying this is a ginned-up bit of nothing here.  He should've stopped earlier, but it's like what - 2 shots after he realized she was singing? - and this will be forgotten in a week.  Plenty of better reasons to dislike Wade if you're so inclined.

First, I am pretty sure they announced it before that little girl started singing. It's not like hes a rookie and doesn't know the protocol of NBA games.

Would you as an Americans be offended if some international player would warm up during your national anthem? Doesn't matter if he's not from US, they are making their bread in US and if you ask me they should respect it. Imagine if that was some muslim player or some Russian player instead of Wade during US national anthem? The media would be all over that Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline....

That's the thing, he's an NBA vet, he knows what's going on, he just didn't care. He also clearly kept shooting repeatedly during the song, it's not like he heard her start and took one last shot, he kept going as if nothing was happening.

Both the NBA and the Heat should fine him and make a public statement disparaging his actions.
