I agree to be honest. Short of a star, (and who would really want him anyway) I think we need to keep Jerebko. He struggled in the beginning of the year, but he can be the perfect big off the bench for us. A pairing of mickey and Jerebko as our bench high energy bigs could be awesome for years to come. Also I really just like Jerebko for some reason. Seems like a very hard worker, has a great jumper, and is tough enough to go get those boards. Also he isn't a terrible perimeter defender for his size.

I don't think Ainge goes out there with the mindset of wanting to trade anyone.   It's more the internet that does that.  Jerebko, Crowder and Isaiah have been really nice finds of his of late. For the right situation Ainge is going to make moves though.

Why can't these be one in the same? Couldn't we find a Jerebko molded player, but also see if Jerebko is okay being like a 7th man type of deal? I haven't heard anything about him needing the starting role but I coups be wrong.

I guess it depends on whats happening with all our picks... if we keep them, it may be the end for Jerebko. if we package them in a deal- a good chance he will stay.

I'm not saying we should get rid of Jonas by any means.  I like him as a 4th big / utility man at the end of the bench.

Just saying, what I find most intriguing about Jonas is that he's had such success in the Celts' system even though on most teams I think he'd probably be a marginal player.  I think if Ainge can find a player with a similar skillset but substantially more talent, that player could blossom into a full-blown star.

 The one thing that jerebko seems to do is make winning plays.  He's always hustled for lose balls and had that extra something as far as that.  Now that he's getting playing time he's just showing what he can do in other ways.  Whether he can keep this up is something else.  He's better served as a utility guy.  He can defend.  He moves his feet really good.   Knocks down shots.  Play inside and outside.    He can serve as a starter for stretches if we have good players around him.  Players like that tend to break down over time though.  I'm not saying Jerebko will but he's better served as a bench player.

He fits this team though.  When I watch games he is like our identity in ways right now.  I just will remember these teams because of Jerebko.  He fits that celtics mytique in ways.

I'm all for keeping Jerebko. Make him the back up 4 so that we always have at least one big with 3 point range on the floor and we are in good shape.

I'd certainly prefer JJ's $5 MM salary to what Sully or even Zeller is going to make in the open market. Might as well Keep him and keep future flexibility.

That being said we might need his salary off the books if we have the opportunity to sign two max level players. If two players that Boston deems worthy of max contracts are signed/traded for then I have no problem getting rid of Jerebko.

Long term I think Bender could be the type of player that excels as a shooting big that can switch onto smaller defenders.

Read the scouting report on him in Draft Express. Praises him for all the things he is now known for: Very unselfish, can guard multiple positions, etc.  Also points out his weaknesses, especially not comfortable with his handle.  Just spot on.

I think he is a terrific guy to have at his contract price, and would be very reluctant to give him up other than if needed for a super star trade.
