If Brooklyn wins lottery

The worse record has won the lottery only 3 times the last ten years so its not impossible Brooklyn gets the top pick. If so n we land Ben Simmons, do u think he would be worth more as a player, or as a chip to acquire more then one superstar in a trade ?

I'm sure there could be a 3, 4 team trade involving Ben Simmons for say Two top 10 players. I'm not gonna name anyone but there would be some big time decisions to be made by Danny Boy n the brass. What u guys think ?

You keep Simmons.

Use your other assets to continue to build up the team via trades or FA but don't move the kid.  The other big thing to keep in mind is that you'll have him on team friendly contract terms for the beginning of his career.

Take the best player, whomever you think that is. The average top pick is worth a lot more on your team than as a trade asset.

This supposedly isn't a great draft but its not one without top flight talent. Both Ingram and Simmons and a few others are supposed to be very very good.

This has been hashed before but I think the list of player that you would consider trading Simmons for is very short.  Cousins may be the only realistically available player I can think of.

Even with the number one pick, I think Sacramento not only wouldn't throw in a pick but they would ask us for an additional asset.

My guess is they would at least ask for #1 and Bradley for Cousins. Which is why I would just keep Simmons or Ingram

Danny Ainge is not gonna give up Ben Simmons and another asset for one player. That would be working backwards. Its not a conversation if Sacramento wants anything more then the lottery pick. There would be NBA teams waiting in line for the chance to aquire Ben. There would be offers across the board. Danny is a smart guy. He would turn Ben Simmons into LeMarcus Aldridge and Jimmy Butler through a 4 team trade before giving Sacramento 3 more seconds on the phone about anything more then Simmons. Apparently, they chose Cousins over the coach. Right there tells u they don't make great decisions...

As far as a DMC trade, I would think that IF Sac were to trade him, they would be blowing it up so a guy like Bradley wouldnt be in their plans. They would probably be more interested in the rookies and other picks. I guess you could move AB to a 3rd team, but you seem to lose value the more teams you add in. I guess if there was a DMC deal (and I knew enough about the Simmons) I wouldn't let AB be a deal breaker. But I just feel like no one values him highly enough and even if we win a trade we are not getting the real value of AB in that trade. If that makes any sense.

didnt' Cleveland give up comparably more to get Love who's not as good as Cousins?

If Danny can get Cousins and #8 for the #1, pull the trigger on that deal.
I suspect it would be closer to all our firsts this year, probably all the second rounders AND AB/Smart.  (not accounting for any salary matching that may be required) to get Sac to agree.  Top center in the league (even though he's apparently a meathead) will cost quite a bit.

I think Sacramento does it in a heartbeat, especially with how disruptive he's been. I'm wary of Cousins though.  Not only is he a behavior risk, I also question if he's really a transcendent player or not. If he was, wouldn't his teams be better? I get he has a poor surrounding cast, but wouldn't LeBron and scrubs win 40+ games each year?

He's still very, very good and I'd roll the dice on him with the #3 pick and a lot more. But if we have a shot on a guy like Simmons who has a shot to be as good as LeBron, I think you make that pick no matter what.
