last year he didn't take it too hoop because of injury and lift on top of being a rookie, marcus shot .33% from 3 not horrible
and was called a BUST
-marcus is still learning what he can and can't do after another season of injury and recovery
his 3pt shooting was horrible
and of course marcus was a BUST  and another negitive thrown at ainge
-nobody treated this as an outlier due to injury
as marcus came back, out went crowder increasing responsibility for marcus on defence
westbrook,george,derozan -his three suffered further
the three has started to fall and now hes a hero,a potential superstar
marcus is a 2nd year 22 old kid that will smooth out the edges but still play edgy

blakley, maxwell -there are so many announcers that just parrot he is a horrible shooter ,last worst in the league but don't ever give him any consideration due to injuries
i believe with time this summer and shot selection he will get back above his rookie seasons numbers
i keep posting this, so he doesn't get labeled and it follows him around-
with crowder everybody just accepted, he is at 70%,,it was his injury, nobody blamed him for poor showing end of season, nobody called him a bust
nobody gave marcus a pass last year on his severe high ankle sprain, nobody cared he lost his first step and lift-and nobody knew he played in pain till mid summer
COMMON BLAKELY and MAXWELL set the record straight while marcus has the spotlight
-don't gloss over those injuries explain how they sabotaged marcus ROOKIE season and AGAIN this year
DON'T LET MARCUS GET LABELED enough people say it long enough it becomes a shadow, a headline  or marcus is a bust
a slight ankle sprain try a dislocated knee this season
and fingers ripped out of sockets

can any of you stat guys track his shooting after coming back from dislocated  fingers, then again from his knee injury and while crowder went down the effect o added defence and making up for his missing points

He had a great game, but to shut people up he needs to do it consistently in all reality.  Good game 1 and 4, not so good game 2 & 3.

I think he rose to the occasion last night and almost got in a duel with Milsap scoring late in the game.

If Marcus Smart played like that consistently he'd be one of the twenty best players in NBA history.  So saying he needs to be a hall of fame type player to shut people up, makes me think some people have unrealistic expectations.

When he gets hot he an really go off.. He has the tools just needs to provide it to game time..
Watching him in warmups he hits most of his shots and Im thinking to myself how does he not do this in games? But its so much more mental than just hitting shots uncontested... Hopefully this was a huge confidence boost... Best game of his life and now he gets all the publicity for the win.. It can go either way for him just hope it matures him rather than inflates his ego..

Well anyone in the NBA can have a good game, when is his next one?

In response to rollie, I guess he didn't [quiet down the critics].

And while it is true that this one game shouldn't vault him to superstardom, he has had plenty of good games before. The difference is that this one REALLY mattered and he showed up at the most critical point...on both ends.

This isn't James Young with an awesome dunk in the NCAA tourney, this is an already elite defensive player finally showing signs that he can produce as a scorer and playmaker. You also have to love the leadership he is showing as such a young player.

He's still got to show he can have decent offensive success over a long sample, but last night was really something.  Renewed my hope that he can reach a level higher than defensive backup.

Marcus is built to be a playoff performer where intensity is high. But Id say he played really well games 1 and 4, and still played very well in game 3. Sure it won't show up in the box score, but the timing of his plays and that block on horford was huge in securing that game. Ill give you that he stunk it up in game 2, but so did our entire team so can't really hate on marcus for that. As a second year player he's proven that he can handle the pressure, Marcus is a guy you'd absolutely want on your team in the playoffs. He does so much out there.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
I think a lot of people that like to trash Smart, only watch the ball and don't realize what he does every play in help defense/fighting through screens. Smart brings a lot to the table that simply isn't apparent if you only fixate on the ball.

His work pushing out Millsap's touches well before Millsap even got the ball allowed him to force misses.

If he can hit from 3, it really opens up our offense. On IT's last drive in regulation, Korver didn't hedge on the pick because he didn't want to leave Smart open in the pick and pop, which allowed Thomas to get into the paint and eventually finish at the rim.

My biggest issue is with the subset of Smart haters that believe he is a finished product at the age of 22. He's going to get a lot better before all things are said and done.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Actually, he wasn't particularly good yesterday either -- except for the last 10 minutes of the game. But that has now been permanently erased from the minds of most folks, it seems.

Nothing has changed really.  He's a good defender that tries hard.

He still needs to work on every facet of his offense.  He was the worst offensive guard in the league this year and last night didn't change that.

He's a role player.  Period.

I'll take a role player who can impact the game in the way he did any time at all.

No that's wrong. He played great defence on Korver for most of the game, then transitioned onto Milsap. He was part of that anaemic lineup during the 2nd quarter that couldn't score. But that's not new, it happens in most of our games, the difference this time was KO was a sieve defensively  and we couldn't get a stop.

Also those last 10 mins alone are deserving of the title MVP in that game. He nullified the only guy  that was killing us all game. When no one else could and I mean that literally.
