Could Smart become a guard version of Draymond Green?

Not much else to add here besides the question. I'm sure this has been said/asked elsewhere. Smart had what I felt was a great game 1, a horrid game 2, and a good game 3. I was at Friday night's game, and his energy could be felt from the balcony.

- ability to guard 3 positions, arguably 4 in small-ball lineups; potential defensive QB
- good court vision, willing passer
- still developing on offense; out of control sometimes, but encouragingly aggressive; handle still a question mark, largely untested; has a knack for the big moment/shot

I'd say that's the best case scenario, but within the realm of possibility.

That should be the way he thinks about it. If he can cut down on the games he goes 2-8, 3-11, 4-12 he can make a more consistent impact on the game.

A PG / SG with Dray Green's skills is impressive, but it's the fact that Green can play PF / C while still passing and shooting that makes him a unique weapon.

In terms of skills, Smart can do everything that Green can do but shoot. His lack of a shot seriously limits his upside right now.

I love when Draymond has games where he attempts single digit shots but has double digit assists. Those are the types of lines Marcus should strive for on a nightly basis.

I agree. Draymond's skillset in that body makes him a borderline top ten player, but a guard version might only be a borderline All-Star. If that's what Marcus becomes, though, I'd be thrilled.

How do his apologists have any effect on his play, unless you consider CBS to be one of his apologists?

Green can shoot and finish and guard 1-5 depending on matchups.  He is clearly a top 15 player in the NBA.  Marcus needs to learn how to shoot and finish stronger.  He can guard 1-4 depending on matchups (that block yesterday was outstanding). 

He is nowhere near Green offensively or defensively at this point and will never have that size.  A guard version of Green looks like Smart's ceiling.

As much as I like Draymond's game, and I agree that he's a clear top 15 player, I'm not sure he's a good shooter. He shoots a good percentage from deep, but the vast majority of his shots are assisted, open looks. I give him credit for every other part of his game, but I think he's overrated as a shooter.

Smart is not scared of physical ball. Same for IT and Crowder .
