Series is over if he's suspended... Our offense couldn't beat the Sixers if IT, AB, and KO are all out

How many more T's dues he have before the automatic one game suspension?

It might be under 3, I could be wrong about that, but I know he's getting close to that limit

What a dumb thing for Thomas to do.  What was he thinking?  It is not like him.  I don't get it.  I like Thomas but he needs to be called out for this.

In terms of the NBA, I don't see any way they can't suspend him.  Would they be allowed to suspend him for one regular season game instead of a playoff game?

Rozier better get ready.

I think he gets an extra heavy fine and plays.

Maybe I haven't been looking hard enough, but I don't understand why Thomas' slap is getting more attention than Green's throw down, Bogut's arm pull (similar to KO), and Drummond's elbow to Lebron's head. If IT gets suspended, all four should be honestly.

Schroder did the same thing to Isaiah on the flagrant foul. So if IT gets suspended , Schroder better too. Though ATL would take that trade off every day.

I am worried he will, but I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't. I actually trust Adam Silver to do a better job at this. Or they can just suspend him for one game next season. I think that is also fair. This is the playoffs.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Man, an awful lot of rationalization going around this thread.

IT's slap reminded me of when Rafer Alston slapped Eddie House in the head in 09:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3OuzKpQ3jM

Or Z-Bo smacking Steven Adams on their way up the court a couple years back:

Rafer and Zach got suspended and I expect IT will too.  I'd be happy to be wrong though.
geez, you watched these and think they resemble what IT did? we obviously have very different standards of what constitutes a "smack."  ::)

Like I said, the difference is in degree, not in kind.  All 3 are deliberate swings to the head area in a non-basketball play.  It's not like Alston's hit had any chance of causing injury either, but deliberate swings to the head get suspensions.

So yes, they do "resemble" each other, in that they're the same type of play at different levels of severity.  And the NBA only seems to care much about severity when it comes to deciding how long to suspend for head hits on non-basketball plays, not whether to suspend.

And again, I'm not talking about what I want to happen or what I think is appropriate.  I'm talking about what the league is likely to do based on past incidents.  They're likely to suspend.  I hope they don't.

I know I am not big time on this board or anything, but why does everybody seem to be ignoring my post(s) about Perk in last year's playoffs (check page 1)? Not only does he all-out shove Crowder in a non-basketball play, but he then takes a swing at (and connects) his head, which in turn escalates this situation into near-bench clearing mode.

Please tell me why IT's lackadaisical arm swing is worse...

Lol what do you expect from a Celtics board? The green colored glasses are on.

Love the smug attitude...like you know what you're talking about. These plays are considerably more egregious. Why doesn't someone just post a video of JR Smith's roundhouse punch on Crowder last year?

Saw this which is somewhat relevant.

Exactly. Stuff like this and Draymond Green getting away with literally throwing people would make the league look pretty [dang] bad if they suspend IT for that. Then again, its the NBA. They're already a mess as is.
