OK man these playoffs are not giving me anything but headaches so let's have a little fun here. I'm not Danny Ainge and I don't get paid to do his job but I am a die hard Celtics fan so I came up with 5 pretty nice realistic moves I think the Boston Celtics should do so let's start on draft day.
#1 Now depending on where the Brooklyn pick ends up, (few options here) I guess it would be somewhere in the range of #1-#5. If we don't win the lottery n get the 2nd pick, trade that pick along with Bradley to Sacramento for Boogie Cousins OR to Chicago for Jimmy Butler. I would think that would be a decent trade value because they are getting a great defender and can shoot the basket (Bradley) and they are getting a ( Brandon Ingram.) Another option would be if the Brooklyn pick falls to either #3 through #5 then maybe package it along with both Bradley and either the 2017 Brooklyn swap or if that don't work, the 2018 Brooklyn pick. Either way what I'm saying is just go get either Boogie or Butler. I know that's a lot to ask for but bringing in one of those guys is absolutely going to attract other top tier free agents.
OK so I got that out of the way so let's get to #2. Free Agency. I'm not sure how many options the Celtics would have left for trades after using some if not all the Brooklyn assets so I'm thinking they go after Kevin Durrant. Yes he is the prize and it would be great to sign others to attract him but you know he's gonna be on the top of every GM's list. Go get him and go hard. Bring him to Boston and show him the trophy case. 17 baby let's go get #18.
#3 upgrade the perimeter shooting. Kevin Martin is 33 but he can shoot the 3. No question the Celtics need a few of him to sure up that perimeter.
#4 Let's just say the Celtics don't have to go into next season with Isaiah Thomas. I know he's the best they have and finding a point guard is hard enough but, maybe using IT as a trade chip to acquire either Boogie or Butler if Bradley isn't enough would be a great move if Mike Conley or Jordan Clarkson could step in and fill those shoes. Celtics can go in another direction at the pointgaurd if it helps build a solid core for the team. I'm not against it.
#5 if the Celtics do so and hit the Jackpot on acquiring either Boogie or Butler via draft day trade and sign the likes of everyone's top target Kevin Durrant, which is not a guarantee, Al Horford is a great option and you can never have enough big men besides, Horford can shoot the 3 and is a big presence in the middle.
Well I don't know about you guys but the way this team is playing in these playoffs, I'm more excited about the what ifs in the offseason then what they are doing in the first round. Its hard to watch. So let me know the 5 moves you would like to see from Danny boy 👍
