If KO is going to be hobbled , I guess this is as good of a time as any to see Mickey in there . If KO can't shoot , he is pretty useless .

Mickey will at least be a defensive presence . Might even spark the team . No other options now .

Mickey and Hunter/Rozier are going to need to get mins now .

I just mentioned in the other olynyk/mickey thread that I'm not as worried about potential mickey/horford matchups as I was. Horford looks like he is slow out there, and his biggest advantage was speed. Should mickey start? Definitely not, but I'm not worried about horford abusing mickey in spot minutes anymore.

What other options are there ?

Zeller isn't going to be able to do anything against horford and Millsap . At least Mickey has a shot at defending Horford and provide shot blocking ....

We are in big trouble if Mickey plays.

You need your best players in the playoffs. Players tend to tighten up and it comes down to which team can execute and shoot better. Putting Mickey out there would be like throwing in the white towel. He would completely disrupt the offense and our offensive execution would suffer.

We're in worse trouble if Zeller plays. Mickey can hit threes better than Zeller. Mickey can dunk better than Zeller. He would not completely disrupt the offense. He might even make it better than it would be with Zeller. Would definitely be better defensively. Sit Zeller. Free Mickey.

You want Mickey shooting threes in a playoff game?

Zeller knows the plays better. He would keep the offense moving.

I really don't want to see either play but it's an easy decision if it's Zeller or Mickey. You go Zeller. Every possession matters so Mickey blowing up 3-4 offensive sets in a 4 minute span would crush us.

If anything that will  be Zeller who blew tons of offensive sets
He can only make wide open shots now and it isn't going to happen against the Hwaks

The Legend of Jordan Mickey lives on.

I remember when this board was convinced Brandon Hunter was the next Celtic great.

Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

It's not a good thing to have either one of those guys in but there is a level of trust built between Zeller and his teammates. Maybe Mickey makes a couple of wow plays but the rest of the offense will struggle more with him in because there won't be any chemistry and he hasn't had enough minutes to figure out how he fits in the offense. He will guaranteed look lost.

Well, Mickey won't be shooting threes for us.

And yeah, I'd rather give our main guys more minutes than risk bringing in younger guys/Zeller.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Good to see another coach in here with the right sense.

Mickey only comes in if Brad is searching and we are getting whooped.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
We should really only expect Zeller OR Mickey to get spot minutes. I agree that it likely will be Zeller, but don't think it's an obvious choice.

Small ball is our only hope and we should see a minutes increase across the board from our regulars plus  15-20 minutes of Rozier.

lol I hope he won't be either but the poster made an argument that Mickey shoots threes better as a reason he should play over Zeller.
