This is where Brad Stevens refusal to play Hunter and Rozier (and even Mickey) serious minutes during the regular season comes back to haunt him.

We already lacked depth, but for some reason Brad refused to play the rookies and here we are in the middle of the playoff serious losing our best defender and best shooter.

If we played Rozier and Hunter more, we might have been able to rely on Rozier to make up for some of the defense we lost with Bradley and and we may have been able to rely on Hunter to make up for some of the shooting we lose with Bradley out.

Instead, we will like see Terry get 10+ minutes and Turner and Smart get more minutes too. Making for the three worst shooters on the team trying to make up for losing our best shooter.  ::)

It was just a huge mistake. Very frustrating to say the least. And before anyone says anything about rookies can't be trusted, we've played Smart 30+ minutes a game even though he has had more than his fair share of downs and very limited ups. So the idea that we can't play rookies/young guys and win has been proven very false by Brad Stevens himself.

eh , mickey isn't going to take mins from Amir and Sully who are much more experienced against NBA competition . Those would be the guys he takes mins from, he can't really play with either of those 2 because our spacing would be awful . He could perhaps play some mins with KO off the bench , but that's only going to happen if Suly or Amir get in foul trouble .

Rozier has played ok, but he wasn't going to be taking mins from AB, IT or Smart . He played some later in the year when Crowder went down , but he wasn't ready for legit mins most of the season .

Let's face it , they are rookies, they aren't going to save us .

Smart, Crowder ,KO, and Jerebko need to be the guys to step up and hit some outside shots.

Mickey could have absolutely taken minutes from Zeller during the regular season. Even could have taken minutes for Olynyk especially when he was hurt. Not saying he should have been playing 30 minutes a night. But we should have been getting him 10+ minutes a night. We would be much better off if we seasoned him during the year instead of wasting time playing Zeller and watching Zeller sit on the bench and be useless against a team with two All-Star bigs who dominate us.

But I agree they certainly aren't going to save us now like I said we missed our opportunity to get them some seasoning when the games really weren't that important in the regular season. But if we maybe you know tested them in the regular season and let them get a little confidence instead of giving them 5 sporadic minutes at a time during garbage time, we might have been able to get something out of them.

That list of guys having to step up for us, is not exactly awe inspiring. In fact, it makes the situation even more bleak.

Ah, the old "play the kids" canard, regardless of whether they deserve it or not.

Tired.

Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

TP. Agreed on the Soft Man. Olynyk is trade bait.

Yes, let's use this as an excuse to criticize the best young coach in the NBA  ::)

I find it funny that because Sully is fat people have called him injury prone. But Olynyk is hurt and missing games seeming all the time and you don't hear a single thing about it on this board.

I'm not saying Bradley could or should try to play in the near future because it was obvious that he was hurt and in a lot of pain last night and also not directing this at him but one thing I've noticed is other than Thomas, I don't see another player on the roster with that tough killer instinct I as a Celtics fan had become used to in players like Pierce, Bird, Garnett, Rondo, Parrish, ML Carr etc all........

Sad that our season is going to end this way. Worst of all because of injuries.
I personally don't see us winning against Hawks now with both Olynyk and Bradley out. I can only be surprised now (hopefully I will be)...

Wouldn't be surprised if Zeller got some meaningful minutes with Olynyk out. I really hope he can step it up and play with some toughness. He's definitely more suited to keep up with the Atlanta bigs than Kelly/Sully

Maybe John Holland will surprise us all. Or even better; James Young will start knocking down his shots.
