I'm not thrilled with the prospect of playing Miami, but it would be fun if we beat them.

I'm not sure why so many people want to see us play Miami in the first round. I'll be bold in my thinking and claim that if Miami has Bosh and are fully healthy, they are a better, more dangerous team than the Cavs. Bosh and Wade with their veteran playoff experience, Dragic playing well, Deng playing much better, and Whiteside having a DPOY like year scares me.

C's have really put unnecessary pressure on themselves the last two games. I don't think they can win any series without HCA.

Why? We have been a pretty dependable team on the road this year. Wins at Cleveland, Oklahoma City, and Golden State just to name a few.

We have? We are under .500 playing on the road. HCA is essential for this team if they want to get to round two this year.
arent the celtics 2-1 against miami in miami this season?
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

So basically we cannot face Charlotte anymore and there is a slim chance that we face Atlanta (if they lose and Miami wins). It's most definitely gonna be Boston vs Miami with the HCA at stake in tonight's game... Well, we brought this to ourselves...  ::)
We can't face Charlotte that is correct.  It is quite possible we play Atlanta though because Miami holds the tie breaker over Atlanta.  If Boston wins and Atlanta loses we play Atlanta(4th seed) Boston 5th.  If Atlanta wins, we lose to Miami and Charlotte loses, we end up in the same scenario.
TP, that is correct, even though I really doubt Charlotte loses to Orlando at home. In any case, the sad part is that we do not hold our destiny anymore, as we need Atlanta to win for us to have a shot at HCA. These final 3 games of the season turn out to be a disaster. :-[
Sorry there is one scenario where the C's play Charlotte.  If Atlanta, Boston and Charlotte all win.  This would leave a 3 way tie involving Boston, Charlotte and Miami that would be resolved by the combined records of all games played amongst the 3 teams.  Boston 5-1, Charlotte 3-4 and Miami 2-5.  This results in Atl. 3rd, Boston 4th, Charlotte 5th and Miami 6th.

This is interesting. I thought Charlotte would automatically be the sixth seed bc they lose both a tie breaker to Boston (H2H) and Miami (division record).

If Atl loses and we win

We place 5th?

They need to fix or tweak this tiebreaker business. Ridiculous

Does it make it sense if atl wins we place 4th but if they lose we place 5th (if we beat Mia)

Atl depending on what they want, play hard or clear the bench

This shouldn't be an option

How would you propose fixing it?

As did I. I still think this is the best scenario. Despite the shellacking we just took at home from them, I'd still rather play them with HCA than Miami. We need to win and judging on matchups for tonights games, this scenario seems fairly likely.

I thought it worked the other way. Once the three-way tie was solved, putting Boston at #4, you now have a 2-way tie between Charlotte and Miami. Under that scenario, Miami>Charlotte.

Batum (ankle) out
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Miami scares me because of size.

Whiteside is seen as an empty stats guy, but that dude could be a menace against us.   We don't have the size to stop him inside and his presence as a shot blocker could prove troublesome for our 5'9 point guard who scores a lot of his buckets at the rim.

Yes. I'm not saying home court wouldn't be important, but the idea that the Celtics can't win a series without it doesn't make sense based off their performance in tough away games this year. They were under .500 on the road, barely, but were still reliable.

Even without Bosh, Miami worries me.

Wade and Dragic have the size to bother our backcourt.  Whiteside can dominate the boards.  Deng, Green, Amare are veterans who might step things up a bit in the playoffs.  Winslow is a wild card.

Joe Johnson has made a huge difference in Miami.  He put Detroit away making shot after shot down the stretch yesterday.  We are 2-0 against Miami with no Joe Johnson.  It is a different ballgame now.

According to this article, if Atlanta, Boston, and Charlotte win, this would be the following result:

Atlanta (3) v Miami (6)
Boston (4) v Charlotte (5)

I think this is the most likely, and best outcome for the Celtics.

The second most likely scenario is that Atlanta, Charlotte, and Miami win, with the following results:

Miami (3) v Boston (6)
Atlanta (4) v Charlotte (5)
