There has been some crazy talk around here that Ingram or even Hield could go number one overall.

I'm here to say there is almost no chance of that happening. Big Ben no jumpshot and all is the first pick if the Celtics we take Simmons if Philly or the Lakers get it they take Simmons.

Just too much talent for anyone to pass on him.

We already have a guy who can do multiple things on offense but can't shoot. I'm not sure I want Smart and Simmons on the same team. Ingram is a better fit.

I agree that I still think Simmons goes #1.

However, I don't think its crazy talk to suggest Ingram, either.  But, Hield?  Certainly crazy talk.

He absolutely should go number one, but sometimes GMs talk themselves out of the obvious right choice.

I also think it's a no brainer but yeah, you never know.  Anthony Bennett for example.

i have never been an expert on draft topics, but Hield is 22 years old.

tp question, who is the oldest player to be picked as #1?

I think simmons can play with smart...smart will develop in one two years in a decent 2 way guard... he has more talent than bradley, and it took a while for bradley to shoot better

I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Greg Oden. I think he was 48.

I think teams are more likely to outsmart themselves in drafts where there isn't a clear cut top player or players.

This draft doesn't strike me like the 2013 draft, where Oladipo was the closest thing to the consensus top player (once Noel injured his knee), but it was thought he had a role player ceiling.

This is more like a 2008 draft where it's a choice between Rose or Beasley, or like 2014 when it was a choice between Jabari and Wiggins.

Ingram fits better for the Celts.   Simmons has a higher ceiling if he can ever learn to consistently shoot the 3.  He just has to make the open ones

Hield at #1 would be certifiably insane, but Ingram would not.

How good of a fit is Evan Turner right now? Evan Turner at his best is basically giving us a preview of how well Simmons would fit his first couple of years, except at PF not SF probably, which might even make a young Simmons fit even better, because he could start next to Crowder, whereas Ingram would have to sub in for or supplant Crowder or push Crowder to PF. I get that we need more scoring, and that Ingram looks like he'll become a really good scorer, but he won't be a really good scorer right off the bat. By the time he is, every other position on the team would be open again as a spot to plug in a really good scorer, and there'd be way more options on the trade and free agent market to get one. Simmons will be a really good rebounder, facilitator, and finisher right away. I think Simmons is the better fit for 2017 & 2018, and the obvious #1 pick.

It's not just CB, but sites like Draft Express have Ingram number one as well.  I can guarantee those guys know more than you or me about draft prospects.

I don't recall anyone besides Ingram or Simmons in the conversation.  Myself, I'd take Ingram, but it's close.
