One Saturday in 1953 the Celtics were playing the heavily favored Syracuse Nationals in the playoffs.....I listened to the game on the radio and they kept on coming from behind led by Bob Cousy....they won in 5 ot's with Cousy scoring 50, including 30 free throws

I was a fan before that, but hooked since

Listened to their first championship game on the radio while away at college

Tommy Point for being a Celtics fan for longer than me.

1969 clinched it for me. Amazing win of a team way past its prime against a super team of Wilt, West, and Baylor. Before then I was a big fan of college ball, but a casual fan of the Cs, and after I followed them religiously and rarely missed a televised game even when they sucked.

When they went on like a 19-game winning streak in 08-09, and Ray going off in that first-round series against the Bulls. Started watching Celtics basketball and Paul Pierce in their worst season (and also my favorite color happened to be green) in 06-07. 07-08 were the days.

Times change, new era and new coach but I have finally adapted to them last year lol. It be tough living in LA dealing with Lakers fans, but I suppose their noise died down because their team is a dumpster fire.

... when I was so bummed about not winning the lottery in '07 (Oden/Durant), that I went to bed and woke up with a severe case of vertigo ... I couldn't get out of bed for 2 days without the world spinning (and I had never been diagnosed with Vertigo before).

I think the high point of my love for the Celts was in the 2012 playoffs against the Heat, when I knew that team was doomed but I lived and died with them anyway.  You knew they were playing above themselves, giving it all they had left, and it was only possible because of some fluky stuff in a shortened season, but that team was a lot of fun.

They went through dozens of peach baskets that game didn't they?

I still have your Havlicek Stole the Ball Record if you want it back!

My love for the Celts (and Boston sports) was inherited and pretty much a part of the fabric of my earliest memories.

My dad was a huge Larry Bird fan growing up, so I've always been a big Celtics fan. However, being a kid in the Midwest in the 90's, it was hard to really follow the Celtics. I didn't really start following the Celtics closely until the Big 3 formed, because they were hardly ever on tv.

Honestly, though, my outright obsession with the Celtics coincidentally came about in the season of 2011-2012 when I broke up with a long-time girlfriend and needed to find a new passion. Thus, I got league pass and have only missed about ten games since the 2011-2012 season.

I must say, this year's team really rivals the 2012 team as my all-time favorite Celtics team just due to their underdog mentality and the way they seem to prove everybody wrong.

I've got to say, there probably wasn't any series better since that 2012 series with the heat. The last realistic run of the Big 3, Rondo's unbelievable game 6 performance only to be overshadowed by Lebrons greatest performance ever. Wasn't that the series when Wade dislocated Rondo's elbow?

Nope, you're thinking the 2011 series against them.

This was the series where Rondo had a 41 point game and got fouled hard by Wade in the last couple minutes and there was no call and the Celts ended up losing.  I think that was Game 1 or 2.

It was also the series where the Celts went up 3-2 after Paul Pierce nailed a last minute three in LeBron's face, which was probably my favorite Paul Pierce moment.

And of course it was the series that featured that apocalyptic Game 6 where LeBron finally found his ultimate gear to close the deal in the playoffs.  That was the launching pad for two titles.

That 2012 team got me overly optimistic about the 2013 team that was such a huge disappointment.

Game 2 was the huge Rondo game. He got blatantly slapped in the face in front of the ref with a no-call, and Wade also blatantly used his extended leg on a layup attempt and they called a foul on KG for the and-1.

That was probably the most biased officiated series that there has ever been. I think it was game 1 that there were like 5 technical fouls on the C's in the first half, and one game they had like 7 fouls before we even got one. Ridiculous.

I suspect Kings fans would disagree . . .

I realized the depth of my love for the C's on January 12, 2007.

My dad was a Celtic fan and I got into the team during the 2001-02 season when they were competing with the Nets in the Atlantic Division for a lot of the year. Then came the playoff run and the comeback in the ECF's. I was excited to be a fan of a young up and coming team.

But then they didn't do quite as well in 2003. And then they lost Jim O'Brien in '04. Doc Rivers was a cool hire in '05 and it looked like things were looking up. But then they missed the playoffs in '06. Things weren't looking up to start the '06-07 season but it got worse when Pierce went down. The losin streak was mounting. The team was bad but Tony Allen was killing it. Tony Allen emerging as a talent would save the team. And then Tony Allen hurt himself dunking and was out for the rest of the season. That was January 10th. On January 12th, I got right back in front of the TV for the next game. There wasn't anything bad that could happen that would shake me from the team. I knew that.
