Ibaka disgruntled in his role in OKC

This is probably a late post but Ibaka seems discontent playing a role in the team as a spot up shooter. It may have may have something to do with Westbrook holding the ball for too long. Any ideas how we can get him? He could be deadly with P/R under CBS offense and he would provide is with an elite rim protextion. Something we sorely seeking in a long while now.

I think the only person who is happy with RW is KD and this is bcs they are real life friends.

I can't imagine any player being happy having RW as his starting PG.

The coaching staff is (Donovan) an was (Brooks) the problem.

Oklahoma has done a horrid job of developing Ibaka. Ibaka has improved his jump-shooting only to be relegated to a more and more peripheral role offensively because of it. The three point shooting is good but it's not worth losing Ibaka's midrange shooting, cutting, occasional post-ups and offensive rebounds. The coaching staff has done a terrible job utilizing him.

Ibaka is right to be unhappy with how he is being treated. He should be furious. I'd be angry if I were constantly undervalued and ignored too.

The coaching staff have also done a terrible job developing Ibaka's passing, rebounding and post skills for several years now. Oklahoma has gotten much less out of Ibaka than they should have. Which is also true for Steven Adams and guys like Jeremy Lamb. Their wastefulness and poor coaching is the biggest reason they have fallen behind Golden State and San Antonio.

With Ibaka's skill+work ethic (he has worked to develop into one of the top midrange shooters in the league) combined with his immense natural talent and the talent surrounding him, he should have been an All Star by now. He should be averaging double digits just off of rim runs in transition, the P&R, and putbacks like DeAndre (especially considering that he's a much better free throw shooter). Utilizing DeAndre's athletic ability is one area Doc has done an excellent job in despite Deandre's lack of skill aside from catching and finishing and having a roster filled with skilled scorers.

The space-obsessed NBA mentality undervalues the potential of an Ibaka and relegates him into a prop. He's been about as well integrated as Love has in Cleveland.

I think he would be a better fit for us than Horford in some ways.  He can D it up and block shots and spread the floor.

That team will never win with Westbrook IMO.
Ibaka and Durant would be amazing here.
They need a pass first PG, which IT would happily change his role too if asked. He'd still score 14-16 ppg but get 10 assists ala Chris Paul.

Triboy, it's not about attempts, it's about touches and being involved in plays. OKC runs a lot of iso with Durant and Westbrook, while we run a lot of motion/ball movement stuff. On our offense Amir is heavily involved in high PNR action, while Ibaka is often standing in the corner. This is basketball 101 type stuff.
