Just saw this on Twitter:

No shock here, but I'm told Dragan Bender has indeed informed Maccabi officials he'll be leaving for NBA draft.

NBA buyout to free Dragan Bender, source said, over $1 million. He is done with Europe, not a draft-and-stash.

I wonder how this changes peoples' opinions on Bender now that he will not be playing overseas as a high level draft and stash prospect.

The draft news keeps getting better and better.

Hield's draft stock is way too high. Maybe some GM over extends and picks him.

Thon Maker declared.

Bender is now available to play next year.

Things are looking good.

I never got the excitement over Bender. the guy didn't even play enough this year to get a highlights you tube video.
He could turn into to something special, but at 3-4 pick I rather go with a safer pick.

My feeling is that if Danny picks Bender I will be happy because I will know he showed enough in workouts to warrant the pick. If Danny passes him up I won't complain because I haven't seen him enough to disagree with Celtics' front office.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

While, Bender is available to play next year, thing is, he might not be ready for playing time in the NBA until the year after next. The kid is a project. Long term project.

Nick,

Playing in Europe, he will probably be ahead of the curve as far as fundamentals. The part I'm concerned about is if he will physically be ready to play. If he's not, he could probably still fill 10 minutes just knowing where to be on the court and having the fundamentals down.

Impossible to know until we see him play but I'm betting he won't be a big duh like James Young.

Agreed, so how does this affect his draft stock? Will he go higher now that people know they can have him right away, or lower because he's not stash-able?

I completely trust DA, but i also think bender at #3 to begin with is due to hype by Draft boards

Isn't he basically Kelly Olynyk with a cooler name?

I guess I get all of my baseline draft ranges from online draft boards so I agree this is true.

We will see pretty soon if GMs agree. Once players start working out agents leak what teams say so we get a better picture of how teams feel about teams.

this begs the question, if the Celtics draft him would it make more sense for him to develop in Europe where he doesn't take up a roster spot, or in the d league.

This is what workouts are about. Porzingis aced his. Maybe Bender will. Maybe he won't

Ha Maccabi finally started giving him minutes after benching him all year to make him happy, then it totally backfired as he's been playing really well.  He's been slated this high all year based 100% on potential and it looks like he's getting there faster than expected.  I'm really warming up to him now a lot

Porzingis showed much more promise prior to the NBA

Bender is not a CBS nor Ainge type of player.   I would be highly surprised if he is chosen with the nets pick

I would choose Jaylen Brown before Bender

I don't agree with him not being an Ainge or CBS type of player. He's a perimeter oriented guy that plays hard and can guard multiple positions. That sounds exactly like an Ainge/Stevens guy to me.
