When you have the best defensive player in the league and like the 6th best and like the 30th best that allows you to do more stuff than other teams.

All three guards were on the court at the same time last night at the end and they beat the best team in the league on their home court. 

The other team was quite frazzled by this. I was amazed watching IT's defense on Curry. Way better than I would have feared.

So by my theory the team has 2 all stars and we're adding some hopefully decent draft picks.

Crowder and Thomas are all stars as far as I'm concerned.

Smart and Bradley are All-Stars defensively, there is not question about that.  They are easily both in the top 5 for defense as guards.

We get too wrapped up in the notion of "stars" and completely miss the point which is that some of these Celtics are as good at a specific thing as anyone in the league, and Stevens is finding what these things are and bring them out.

I pretty much agree. There is good talent on the roster.

It is not about stars. It's about guys playing together and to their strengths collectively, isnt it? This team is about having a whole lotta above average dudes on the same page. Depth is the biggest asset.

Hopefully, we can keep improving the talent without losing the vibe.

I think it just symbolizes that we are truly one star away from being a contendor. By star I mean KD or Cousins.

Crowder actually sat out against GSW.    But yeah, i do agree in the sense that those are 3 of the top 5 perimeter defenders in the league.

I don't love the comparison but this team is presently maybe closest to those recent Pistons champs.

This team without a "closer" or a "superstar" has managed to win a number of close games against elite teams.   The Cleveland, clippers, and GSW wins come to mind.

Exactly. Would you rather have Smart, Bradley, and Crowder or would you rather have Horford, Thabo Sefalosa, and Tiago Splitter?

The three guys combined are basically better than an all star, or even the all star and some teammates.

Thats a good point.  However, the Pistons beat a behemoth Laker team and won a championship. And then had 4 all stars.  Sow we have a ways to go.  We might be more like the Golden State team that defeated Dallas when Don Nelson ousted Mark Cubans team.

as great as the backcourt played or has played against GS. they're equally as bad against Tor. and Cleveland.

i'd rather temper my enthusiasm and not go through what you're going to go through when we lose to the Raptors or Cavs..
