Total scumbag move.

This will stay with him the rest of his career.  It'll take a looooong time for teammates to trust him.  Whether it'll ever be in LA or elsewhere.

What a moron.

Felger could be right.

LA is a much more attractive landing place for free agents. Especially now that the black hole is leaving, players will start considering the Lakers again.

The Lakers are always one offseason away from being back in the fold.

Hasn't the same been said about NYK for the last 15 years?

Action,

Good point. The Knicks have gotten a ton of decent free agents but they usually don't end up working out.

The Lakers have historically had better luck but are under new ownership so who knows.

Good point again.

The Lakers got Shaq through free agency and that's when it worked out. That's the only time.

I agree with much of the sentiment here, Russell is really stupid for doing this. It will be years before he loves this down.

I actually feel bad for the kid.

Obviously it was a dumb move. But reading about him having to eat breakfast alone and stuff like that makes me question the experienced professionals in that organization. Guys like Bass, Williams and especially Kobe should handle such a situation better than that.

This makes them look like 12 year old kids picking on a child at school. Help the kid grow up. I'm pretty sure Kobe did stupid things himself when he was Russel's age.

Part of growing up is about suffering consequences for poor decisions that you make. So they're doing that, they're teaching him a lesson.

You sound like a potential enabler. How do you suggest the veterans deal with him? Giving him a big hug and telling him everything will be alright? What will he learn from that?

Reminds me of Nick Van Exel, though not necessarily as talented (certainly not yet) and far more annoying (attention-seeking, childlike vs. explosive). Best wishes to LAL.

Felger is an idiot. If there is a word out there that means million times more than an idiot. That would be what Felger is.

Too much time on his hands .

I don't even get the point I what he did.

Some how I feel this a symptom for tanking to some extent .  When you run a team into the ground on purpose.

When winning isn't important .....kids have to find other things to entertain their minds.

Trade off all the mature talent ,  hire lower class players to fill out a roster .  Who are all there ONLY for a paycheck ,  the concept of a TEAM GOAL and importance of care about the GOOD of your own teammates disapates.

Mgmt creates this type of situation with half hearted attempts to WIN .

Tanking has side effects on the coach, fans , and players .

Mannix was suggesting that they might have to make a decision. It's hard to trade him because he's the #2 pick, but do you just get rid of the rest of the team if the ostrizing continues? Also said that Russell is a very immature kid. Yes, he's only 20, but he acts much younger than that.

Send him to Philly for Okofor.  How funny would that be with how the draft played out.

Or trade our Brooklyn pick for him. But they'd probably prefer the Philly offer.
