I'm not rooting for the Suns tonight. The Suns are really bad, and a loss would not bode well for our playoff chances, nor for our FA chances this summer.

There isn't a massive difference between the #3 and #4 worst records. A 9% difference in top-3 odds and a 4% difference in #1 odds. The biggest difference one game can make is half of that (because if you tie, the balls get divided evenly), and there's good odds that this game will make no difference at all. How valuable, really, is a 1% extra chance at Ingram? I'd rather avoid an embarrassing and demoralizing loss while we're fighting for home court advantage in the playoffs.

you are responding to the same guy that thinks we should Tank and miss the playoffs.

I say beat the PHO out of Phoenix.

C's should be able to play the young players and still win. This should be a ugly one tonight. IT and Smart will likely be under 28 mins.

I can't support Phoenix beating.  Take our chances with which ever sucks worse landing where they justly deserve.  Celts are battling for playoff position.  At the start of a tough road trip a win by the Celts has more impact that than the chance at a few more ping pong balls that we may well end up with regardless.

and yeh...I get that that I'm taking the short view
Yup

ha, ha, ha. good one.

yep, i want the celtics to win. i want this team to be positioned well in the playoffs. i am tired of the "tank and break the bank" thinking. it was all right last year, but from now on we are back to be "normal fans" who cheer on their team to victory.

of course, if phoenixe wins every game left after this one, so much the better.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

This is not a season for tanking of any kind. They have to beat the teams they are supposed to beat. Make it a blowout, then consider putting in James Young.

Given the possibility that PHO and BKN tie, a reminder on the tie break rules:

Quote
In the event that teams finish with the same record, each tied team receives the average of the total number of combinations for the positions that they occupy. Should the average number not be an integer, a coin flip is then used to determine which team or teams receive the extra combination(s). The result of the coin flip is also used to determine who receives the earlier pick in the event that neither of the tied teams wins one of the first three picks via the lottery.

The tie break is particularly important here not because of the combos but because of the coin flip - which determines whether a team picks #4/#5/#6 or #5/#6/#7 in the event other teams move up.

First steps toward your first two wishes:

The Boston Celtics have recalled forward Coty Clarke and guard/forward James Young from the Maine Red Claws of the NBA Development League.

Marcus Smart will start tonight if Avery Bradley is not available to play.

Would be real surprised if they rested IT, though. He LOVES to play against and beat up on his former teams.

TP....hope you get your wish.

I'm not going to say I hope we lose but this is one loss I wouldn't lose sleep over.

I think a 4% chance or 9% chance is worth running some young guys tonight.  If we win with young and rozier and Mickey the so be it.

I also don't think it would be so bad to see Cleveland or Toronto in the 1st round. Sounds like a good match up to me :)

Sweet! Another tank thread. Love these. Needs more Jordan Mickey though...

Team has 42 wins there is zero chance of them missing the post season. They aren't the Bruins.

I'm rooting for the Suns tonight.

The Suns winning or losing against us could be the difference between Ingram or Hield.

I'm rooting for the C's tonight (partially because I think Phoenix can still beat out the Nets by winning OTHER games), but your logic is pretty flawed.

I'm not rooting for the Suns tonight. The Suns are really bad, and a loss would not bode well for our playoff chances, nor for our FA chances this summer.

You think a loss at Phoenix would hurt our chance at attracting free agents this offseason?  LOL

There isn't a massive difference between the #3 and #4 worst records. A 9% difference in top-3 odds and a 4% difference in #1 odds.
A 9% chance for a top 3 pick and 4% at #1 is a pretty big swing for one game.

... and there's good odds that this game will make no difference at all.
There's as much of a chance that one loss for the C's will make no difference at all.

How valuable, really, is a 1% extra chance at Ingram?

Where do you get 1%.

Again, I'm still rooting for the C's tonight, just find your logic to be kind of biased.
