Yes. If you can get Durant, you get him at any and all costs.

The odds that Ingram will be as good as KD are exceptionally long.

In addition, I would not be surprised to see KD sign a 1 year deal wherever he goes so he can maximize the amount of money he gets (the cap will peak in 2017). So even if you get him you may only get 1 year of him and Ingram would be a helluva backup. :)
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

I'm not trying to be a wiseguy, but is the OP having a laugh at our expense?

Only an idiot would say no.

Why sign a top-5 player when you can draft an unproven rookie?

Triboy, time to hit the bench. You're missing badly, kid.

We'd probably trade Ingram for someone else if that happened like Butler or Cousins.

I hope not! If we get a top 2 pick (we probably won't) then get Simmons or Ingram and don't do what the Cavs did and trade it and lose! We have to think long term about having this team compete for the next 10-15 years. Keep the pick, and sign Horford or another great FA to entice Durant. We can then maybe trade Smart, other picks and Bradley for another key piece.

Heck yes.
Durant is a top 5 player in the league, whereas Ingram is an unproven rookie. Best case scenario is that Ingram turns out to be a beast in the NBA, which enables us to play KD at PF and Ingram at SF ::)
Jack of all trades, master of none.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Why not? Ingram will need a few years to bulk up slightly anyway.
I'd consider trading Ingram for a star.
Ingram or any rookie should have no influence on trying to get Durant here.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Why wouldn't we? Because one 7-foot SF who shoots the lights out is better than two?    ::)

Plus, Ingram will probably never be as good as Durant, but his best shot at being close is to practice with KD and emulate everything he does. I can't imagine a better thing for Ingram's development. Plus, it's not like they can't share the floor - Ingram might not be ideal for guarding SG's, but then again, what SG is going to be able to guard Ingram?

Of course.

what happens to Ingram development? don't you think this could turn off the kid also. Maybe come FA

Hey I'm considered a "sure" thing.  Where is the spotlight?  where are my mins (with crowder and Durant at the 3)

I'm not saying not to go for Durant , but it could become an interesting situation

If he has any kind of mental fortitude, I'm sure he'll be fine playing under Durant and coming off the bench as a rookie

If he can't accept that, then you already have a problem with him & probably shouldn't be drafting him.
