It has two Superstars in the making, but the draft is really about the depth all the way through only a handful or so may turn into All Stars or very good playets, but they are there.

If you have confidence in Ainge he's got a chance to land some real Gems if he decides to draft multiple players and keep them.

Here are some interesting options all over the board. From D.E.

Would love to add any of these guys

 7 Murray
 8 Ellenson
 9 Hield
 10 Skal
 13 Deyonta Davis
 14 Ivan Rabb

 17 Valentine Awesome
 19 Sabonis  Awesome
20 Damion Jones. NBA Big Athletic
 22 T. Prince Crowder Insurance
23 Diamond Stone Perk Plus more

 31 Grayson Allen shooter
 33 Brice Johnson Matrix light
34 D Murray scorer big guard
 35 Melo Tremble classic Pg
 36 Diallo Project big Upside
37 Malcolm Brogdon 2 way Stud

40 Levert. Injury prone Evan Turner like
 42 Malik Newman. Scorer Freshman,
44 Gary Payton JR. Tough, Scrappy

52 Bentil PC undersized scoring big
56 Yogi Farell Tough kid, leader, fiesty 17 ppg
 57 Pascal Siakam 20ppg 12 rpg sophmore
58 Cat Barber Cat quick 23 ppg 5 RPG 5 APG
59 Perry Ellis! I mean come on, he's better than 59!

Your going to find starters or key bench guys all over this draft. Key, Key, Key, for Danny to pick the right guys. Go find the gems Danny!

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I'm with you. A lot of doubters re this draft but I think it's stacked with guys who could stick around for a long time.
The main thing I notice how many great shooters there are-even the bigs can hit at least mid range jumpers and the evolution of the game means more bigs can shoot from 3 and the guards are amazing from NBA 3 range.

Small ball/movement/3 point shooting is the way of the future IMO.
Always makes you wonder how many points KG wouldnhave scored if he stepped back a few feet on all those long 15 foot jumpshots he was so good at.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I do not think this draft is weak either.... we could get 1 future star and 1-2 role players... if we get a max player from free agency we will need cheap contracts... turner jerebko zeller and sully could be gone

I think that this draft is underrated at the moment, but that will likely change once players starting doing private workouts and their measurements come in. That usually starts getting teams excited about potential and with it comes positivity. Also, the perceived notion that this draft is weak will probably get a lot of international players to declare, which in "stronger" draft not as many would be likely to. The crop of international players from Bender to the 3 French bigs could really make this the difference between a good draft and a great one.

I wouldn't say its an impressive draft but it isnt as bad as some people want to make it out to be.

Looking at resent draft history 2011 and 2013 where both considered to be weak classes.

2011 yielded a lottery that includes 2 Star (irving and Thompson{leonard went 15}), 2 High production starters (Walker and Knight) and 3 Busts ( Williams, Vessely and Jimmer). The rest of the lottery ranges from solid bench player to solid starters. An Ok group but not overwhelmingly good. Howver looking past the lottery and the first round yielded Leonard, Vecevic, Harris, Faried, Jackson,Mirotic, and Jimmy Butlter. The 2nd round Parsons, and IT4. In terms of total talent thats a great group.

2013 is still a young group but at this point I feel safe saying that its best players in no real order are Giannis (#15), Gobert (#27), McCollum (#10), Oladipo (#2), Noel (#6) Crabbe (#31), KO (#13), S Adams (#12), Schroder (#17), and Dieng (#21)  i'm prob missing someone... This isnt an overwhelming draft class but the talent is there. It just once again isn't coming from the top end of the lottery as would be expected.

This years draft for all its detractors has two players who would be in the debate for the #1 pick in most years in Ingram and Simmons. Where I see this as a weak draft is the group that rounds out the lottery. I personally am really high on Bender and Poeltl (despite Sabonis), I also like Murray, Hield and Ellenson. I am not really high on Dunn, Brown, or Labissiere as early picks (I wouldn't not draft them do to their potential but I would be worried). In my opinion what makes this draft interesting is the mix of proven college players and really really raw prospects. Players like Hield, Valentine, Brice Johnson, Prince, and Hayes should all be able to carve out various roles in the NBA. Guys like Labissere, Diallo, Chriss, Brown and Rabb have a ton of high end potential but are also major bust risks. Drafts like this will make alot of teams look really bad for drafting busts while a hand full will come out looking brilliant for drafting an allstar in the 20s.

Lets hope DA is on the good side of this one.

What Eddie said.  My memory is that a lot of Euros pulled out of last year's draft and are declaring this year. This is a good year to have multiple 2nd round picks.

Yes the Euro's will help, but either way very solid draft top to bottom.

It's a deep draft in some ways   Lots of question marks. Perhaps several Draymond Green jackpots later on

Simmons, Ingram and Hield look like sure things going into the NBA. But from there some uncertainty /translation.

But overall def looks deeper than last years

What is weird for me us this is an impressive college draft list. But when it comes to upside it's hard seeing a lot of guys making the leap to even being a starter. A lot of players have multiple holes in their game. And a lot of guys are lacking elite athleticism. Without the skill or athletic ability how do these guys become a long term NBA player? I just think there is a lot of luck needed with this draft class.

Hield is very athletic for a knock down shooter.

He's definitely more athletic than Steph Curry for example. Curry obviously has many other advantages.

I think this draft is meh. Last year's draft was truly deep, when you consider the 10-13 picks: Winslow, Turner, Lyles, Booker. This year has a pretty nice top 2, but it's pretty weak 3-10 (where we will likely be drafting, unfortunately). Then the law of averages starts to kick in, and it looks pretty similar to other drafts.

The top player in this draft couldn't propel his team into the NCAA tournament. The 2nd best player in this draft couldn't propel his team into the Elite Eight. This has been a season of parity in the NCAA and the overall quality of the college product was perhaps at its worst in a very long time. Almost all the foreign players have huge question marks in multiple areas or are still 1-3 years away from being ready to come over.

I have huge questions regarding this draft class. Most of this class isn't physically ready to compete at the pro level. They have years of developing their bodies before being able to think about being ready to produce in a meaningful way. If we can't land Ben Simmons, I will be much happier trading all the 2016 first round picks in a package for someone like Blake Griffin.

I'm really high on this draft. I like guys in every tier of the first round. Haven't looked at the second round too much.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

Don't be too hard on yourself. It's not like any of the 10 guys drafted after Melo turned out to be world beaters. That draft was very thin outside the top 10 in terms of productive NBA players.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.
