a guy who is limited athletically, can't dunk like this

Exactly.

Triboy, he's 6-8 so him being able to dunk on a running start isn't anything to write home about. You posted links like we were going to be blown away or something. Pretty funny.

for a late 1st/2nd round pick you should be blown away.

This guy has done everything possible (staying until his senior year) to max his game. And now has above average explosiveness and can shoot.  Below is extended highlights of Ellis vs Maryland (sweet sixteen, yesterday) .  Those last two shots are vintage paul pierce.  And even today many sfs are not able to do.

I would be happy to grab Ellis with one of our later picks.

27 pts vs Maryland to lead Kansas to the Elite 8.   Kansas was riding on his back in the 2nd half

Triboy, you have a hard time seeing the difference between college success and NBA success. It's a completely different game. It's a reason why so many star collegiate players flame out and don't amount to anything. There are countless examples of this. Ellis will be another. He has a low skillset and combines that with limited athleticism. He can get away with it in collge by going up against smaller/younger players and having really high basketball IQ. On the NBA level, he's toast.

Also why a lot of college under-performers end up becoming studs. Totally different game

exactly

NBA space + newfound explosiveness is only going to help Ellis. His 1st step is really good this season.  Like he was not able to blow by his man and finish under/around the basket before.  Or he had problems to do it

Eddie20 I understand its a different. You have to understand that Perry Jones 3 type of mouthwatering physical tools is not always going to cut it in the NBA.   You need to look at the "nuts and bolts" also.

Ellis if he came out after last season would of pro been undrafted.  Tweener in a bad way like a few have said.  But this season he has worked/developed on "SF" part of the game.   Explosiveness/quickness/ jump shot/3 pt range.

So why put him down and remember him as the player we know from freshman to junior?  He has advanced his game . And I think he could be the next PJ Tucker,  Ryan Gomes, Marcus Morris at the NBA level

Triboy, do you realize how farfetched it is for Ellis to gain the "explosion" you keep referring to? Explosion that no one else see, but you. To entertain you I would say that if he gained this new found athleticism at this age in player development then it should be considered a modern day miracle because I can't think of one single player that went from lacking athleticism to being "explosive" from age 21 to 22.

If you can understand the dunks from 2014 to dunks from this season , I guess by your standards, miracles can happen Eddie20.

2016 dunks/explosiveness

Really impressive stuff. A 6-8, 6-9 guy that can dunk? That's unreal.

I'm not sure what you're trying to prove with these videos. Im with Ed20. If you're 6-9 playing DI college basketball for Kansas, you better be able to dunk.

I wouldnt be surprised to see him go undrafted. If he does get drafted it will be past # 45.

After 2 nice games helping Kansas to the final 8, struggled yesterday. Was hounded. Lanes clogged.

I still think a nice 2nd round pick.
