It's a delightful thought, but remember the Dallas pick is top 7 protected. We don't want them in the top 3.

Models like 538 go through every game, calculate odds for winning and losing, and then run thousands of simulations.  They put us at a greater than 99% odds to make the playoffs.  Sorry tankers.

true, having the pick slide to next year which is expected to be a better draft (and we only have 1 1st rounder) wouldn't be a bad thing (except to hear the incessant whiner brigade complaining about why Danny couldn't get the pick unprotected if Dallas ended up in the top 3). 

I don't expect Dallas to be as bad next year though even with Dirk a year older and Deron likely a bit worse next year.  Probably would end up mid-to-late teens.  not horrible, especially since we'll be flipping slots with the Nets who'll be in the lottery again.

I'm all for a good tank, but collapsing with a few weeks left in the season is a terrible idea.  Boston would be much better served making the 2nd round of the playoffs then just collapsing missing the playoffs entirely.
