Isn't LeBron just the worst because he wants to play with his closest friends? What a scoundrel!

if you see through his BS this is just him saying my teammates aren't good enough.

Not really.  Lebron has talked about those three as his best friends for year.  They talk about every day.  They vacation together.  Lebron's wife is CP3's wife's best friend.  They attend birthday parties for each other's kids.

The guy is saying that for just one year, he'd love to play with his best friends.  I just don't see that as inappropriate.  If he'd said that he'd like to bring those guys in next year, I'd agree that it's a shot.  In the context of one year, before he retires, I don't see it as a big deal at all.

Guy is set for life, he should just play for free and chase rings since that's all he wants.

He doesn't care about being lebron the basketball player anymore he cares about building lebron the brand.
Get those rings and people will just remember the total championships you won while they're waiting in line for days to buy your 50th anniversary Edition Nike's.

That's where the money is for this guy now

So Lebron thinks it's perfectly ok to talk about guys he'd like to play with, full knowing that it would require trading key guys currently on his team (Irving, Love), while his team is #1 in the East and still in the middle of a season?

And people talk about Demarcus Cousins being a horrible teammate?!?!?!  That's utterly disgusting.

He may as well just say it outright - "Kyrie and Love aren't good enough, I want them traded".

Lebron has got to be one of the most disgusting individuals in this league right now.  He's just an absolute joke.  I don't care if he finishes his career with 25 rings, he will NEVER earn an ounce of my respect.

Lebron wants to play with his three best friends really stack the deck in his favor before his career is over? That's surprising.
fixed that for you

It's not really accurate, though.

He talked about playing one year with those guys before everyone retires.  He's said for years that those are his three best friends in the league.  I don't think it's weird that he'd like to team up with them, even in the late stages of their career.

Why does Lebron get dumped on when he says, in the future, before he retires, that he'd like to spend a year playing with his best friends?  Meanwhile, Kevin Durant receives very little criticism for rumors that he wants to ride the coattails of Steph Curry by signing with the Warriors.
here's something that is troublesome about those types of statements.  How is that a player-version of tampering?  If the Cavs owner said he'd like to have Lebron play with those guys, the league would be fining him at a minimum.  I've always felt the players should be fined as well for what equates to similar comments

And he says he's take a pay cut to do it. No lie. This guy just won't stop.

He's the ultimate Grass is greener on the other side guy. It's on Bleacher Report by Howard something. He's quoted and everything lol.

all this guy cares about is to win another ring at all cost (even pride).  What a guy

The league allows it, though. Do we object when IT brags about selling guys on Boston at the All-Star game?

Who cares, that's a bunch of old guys on one team. They would get whipped by the Warriors. LBJ can't scheme his way into a championship this time. Curry won't allow it.

maybe I'm missing something but I think it's different.  IT can say lots of good things about the franchise and the city.  Lebron seems to be saying he wants to play with specific players.

Yeah, that team would struggle. Four guys who all need the ball in their hands. They would have epic moments, but they'd have less chemistry than Lebron thinks. It really only works if 2 of them come off of the bench, and that wouldn't happen.

IT has talked about specific players coming to Boston. He just hasn't named names.

Which is closer to tampering: trying to recruit a guy to play for your team next year, or saying that you'd like to play with your best friends on an unnamed team at an unknown time in the future?

Seems like a legitimate possibility if Wade would take a substantial pay cut. Clippers should totally go for Kyrie as he quite a bit younger; same for NYK with Melo/Love.

If we don't take out CLE in the playoffs, I sincerely hope that Toronto does. Even if this story is a little exaggerated (is there a link?), I generally take the position of wishing ill-will (in terms of basketball) on Lebron.

Edit: here is the link:

This is the original article, written by Howard Beck.

All these years later, the mutual admiration remains potent. Whatever their mood, ask James about Anthony or Anthony about James, and you will get a smile, a story, a spirited endorsement.

Decisions have been made, trades forced, contracts signed, fates chosen, taking the teen stars down starkly different paths. The bond endures. The vision of a James-Anthony partnership does, too.

"I really hope that, before our career is over, we can all play together," James said. "At least one, maybe one or two seasons—me, Melo, D-Wade, CP—we can get a year in. I would actually take a pay cut to do that."

Maybe at the end of their careers, James said. Maybe sooner. One more ring chase, this time with everyone on board.

"It would be pretty cool," James said. "I've definitely had thoughts about it."

Before bounding away, he smiles and closes with a coy chirp: "We'll see."

Seems innocuous enough. The clock on Wade seems to be ticking the loudest.

Because one example is Lebron himself saying that he wants to play with these players.

The other example is other people around the league making rumours that Durant wants to go to Golden State.

If Durant publically said he wanted to go to Golden State while half way through a season with the Thunder, then I would criticise him all the same.  It's horribly unprofessional to talk about wanting to play with other players / teams while you are midway through a season with another groups of players on another team.

It's like being a lead designer at BMW, and going on record saying you want to work with the CEO at Mercedes Benz, because you are great friends.  It's ethically despicable, it is an embarrassment to the brand and to yourself, and it would likely lead to a reprimand.  But because Lebron is Lebron he is untouchable and can say and do whatever the hell he wants.

But KD hasn't done that because, unlike Lebron, he has some degree of class.
