Labissiere at #13?

Skal Labissiere should stay at Kentucky for a second season but let's say he comes out and drops to the back of the lottery and the Mavs pick winds up being #13 (wishful thinking). Is he worth bringing in and trying to develop at the #13 spot?

I think this has been proposed before but IMHO, if the C's have grabbed a top prospect with the Brooklyn pick, I wouldn't be upset if they swung for the fences on this kid if he shows something in the team's workout sessions. 

I would add that he's ok at that spot provided there isn't another really good prospect available at that time who's much less of a bust potential.  I get the desire to swing for the fences on some picks but I'm more of the type to prefer a guy with a higher floor-lower ceiling than a higher ceiling-lower floor.

what I'd be curious to see is the reaction on this board if he took a shot at Skal with another solid player on the board.  Danny gets raked over the coals both for taking safe picks (ex. KO over Giannis) and for drafting for potential (Fab, Young).

I think when I guy looks as lost, low energy, as he does in college, it is a good indication of his playing personality; he is not going to suddenly turn a switch on in the pro's.  I would stay away from him.  Just not feeling it. I'd rather take an unskilled guy who is high energy.  Those are the types who blossom in the pro's. E.g., Crowder.

I think it would be great if we could get Skal at 13. Sure he has a high bust potential, but he also has star potential. With the depth this team has, it makes more sense to go for higher ceiling/low floor guys because we already have a full rotation.

His jumper is very smooth, he's very athletic and can block shots. His upside is a guy who can hit 3's, roll hard to the hoop for alley oops and blocks shots.

There isn't going to be a player with higher upside with the Dallas pick than Skal.

+1 We have a lot of draft picks. Chances at #13 are that we get a guy who is the 6th-8th player on the team. We have a bunch of those already. We have so many draft picks that we can easily shoot for the stars. If we miss and hit Fab Melo, so be it.

but, Jeff Green can block shots.  the issue has always been getting him to expend the effort to do so.

You don't even think twice if he is there at 12-15. But he won't be. Lab wasn't a fit in Kentucky is what most will say. If C's did draft him it would be history repeating itself. The Rondo scenario all over again or the James Young one . For me I believe it going to be the Rondo one. Look at Lab's good games and look at his pre Kentucky play. Guy has incredible upside.

At no point has the term "rim protector" been used to describe Jeff Green. Skal is a rim protector.
