Sean Kirkpatrick, a guy the Nets picked up from the D league.
In the last five games he is playing 22 minutes a game, averaging 18 points, and is shooting 66% from the field including 65% from the three point line.

With stats like that shouldn't you be comparing Kilpatrick to DeMar DeRozan?  :D

Seriously, 5 games may not be wise way to evaluate a player. He's been cut by numerous NBA teams mostly playing on 10 day contracts. After this scoring binge with the Nets he's been given a 2 year contract or whatever they gave him. This seems risky.

On the other hand Jeremy Lin was cut by a couple teams before catching on with the Knicks and other teams afterwards.

Kirkpatrick is clearly better, he can at least hit threes
I'm bitter.

Haha I love this thread. I mean Smart deserves to get crushed even though the comparison is ridiculous. He hasn't been good. There are no excuses for him being worse offensively.

Forget Smart..atleast he's got a killers defense

But man, we drafted James Young to be exactly what this dude is doing in Brooklyn and our very oen Jamea Young has already wasted 2 seasons out of 4 yrs cost controlled contract...Im starting to thinl JY willnever be able to be the player we want him to become.

That's a great point.

deserves to be crushed -is there any linkage to crowder going down and jerebko with kelly coming back and having to score more that had him attacking the basket
also playing 3 positions on defense and having the officials possibly teaching him a lesson
i would save deserves to be crushed for some petulant overpaid star that doesn't play defence

The real question is, should Danny have wasted a draft pick on Marcus Smart when Jordan McRae was still on the board? McRae is shooting .425 from the floor, .375 from 3, and .800 from the line. Better, across the board, than Smart. He's also played for 2 NBA teams this year which is 1 more team than Smart has played for. Last time I checked, 2 is better than 1.

But it's not just about individual numbers. Right now, McRae's team is 50-20 and first in the Eastern conference.

It seems like this was pretty obviously a mistake.
