Sean Kirkpatrick, a guy the Nets picked up from the D league.
In the last five games he is playing 22 minutes a game, averaging 18 points, and is shooting 66% from the field including 65% from the three point line.

Why did they draft Smart over Kirkpatrick?

Forget Smart..atleast he's got a killers defense

But man, we drafted James Young to be exactly what this dude is doing in Brooklyn and our very oen Jamea Young has already wasted 2 seasons out of 4 yrs cost controlled contract...Im starting to thinl JY willnever be able to be the player we want him to become.

So maybe he should get playing time over turner or smart? idk seems like our roster is jammed since they got drafted.

With stats like that shouldn't you be comparing Kilpatrick to DeMar DeRozan?  :D

Seriously, 5 games may not be wise way to evaluate a player. He's been cut by numerous NBA teams mostly playing on 10 day contracts. After this scoring binge with the Nets he's been given a 2 year contract or whatever they gave him. This seems risky.

On the other hand Jeremy Lin was cut by a couple teams before catching on with the Knicks and other teams afterwards.

A 26 year old vs. a guy who just turned 22 2 weeks ago.  Talk to me in 4 years and we'll see where Smart is.  Smart is well ahead of where Kilpatrick was at that age.

Congratulations to Sean Kirkpatrick.  I wish him well.  I would like to caution, in the immortal words of Russell Westbrook, "don't get it twisted."

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
In other words for the past 5 games he's been GOD?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I was going to make a post about Shelvin Mack saying the same thing.  Mack probably a b etter comparison since he went to butler and was on the maine red claws.  Now he's back with Hayward and they are doing work.  He's like draymond at pg. Smart should be but really isn't right now.

Smart strikes me more as Iggy at pg. but draymond is a valid comparison too.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

You're new here, good to have you on board. You will learn to disparage young guys after they go through a bad stretch.
