Forget his defensive game, they're killing his offensive game by refusing to give him any calls when he drives to the basket. he's getting hammered and not getting any calls. it's absolutely ridiculous!!!

I thought this was a thread in defense of Smart generally.

I don't think you can blame the refs for his poor showing on celticsblog. He gets away with a fair amount on the defensive end..

I think with his size and lack of any juke/hesitation moves on his drives, he is just not getting the calls that somebody like IT gets. I don't think he is going to get way slimmer, but I do think he could find some crafty ways to sell the contact at the hoop.

Smart needs to drive more and shoot fewer threes.

Um what?

Smart isn't getting the same calls that IT gets, but IT isn't getting anywhere near the calls that he deserves.

A foul is pretty cut and dry.

In real time, I'm not surprised that the refs miss calls, especially considering how much slower/dumber they are compared to NBA players.

But when we see a close-up slow motion replay on High Definition television, it's pretty obvious who committed a foul.

Anyone who says the refs are nailing these calls due to Smart's lack of juke/hesitation moves, isn't watching the games all that closely.

Marcus Smart is one of the top players in the league at selling contact, I'm not sure what you want him more to do.

The guy already flops on every play, what more do you want?!?!?!

Smart is a guy who relies on strength.

The refs can't see strength.

Eventually the refs will figure out that Smart rightfully has that position.

The lack of Smart appreciation on this board really has me puzzled.  I can't remember the last time we had a player who gets into the paint and goes strong at the rim the same way Smart does.  Paul Pierce and Tony Allen in 07?
