btw Eddie20 how is Bender doing?  ;D

In all seriousness it's still very early but Benders role as a benchwarmer has not changed

Bender is ways away from obtaining an NBA body to battle underneath the boards

Just glad we didn't take a risk on this question mark

this is why I was hoping Danny draft Sabonis :(

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZgwmbxr9M8

His rebounding is coming along and is shooting the long ball at a nice rate.   Does not look like a 20 year old out on the floor

Should have traded down... the 8th, 11th picks were up for grabs .

You mean traded down from 3?  Sabonis may be a good.player, but JB has far.more upside.

not to 3... I like Brown and he was the correct pick at 3

But if Danny tried,  he could have traded down to the 8th spot (Kings)  for say 16th and several 2nds

so childish lol

I have never stated JM is the one frontcourt player you can depend on to grab all the rebounds etc

He is not Draymond Green.

But as a guy similar to a Taj Gibson, as a pretty mobile PF, that can do many things on the court. Play solid team D, block shots. Score some points.

He looked more comfortable in the pre season, and has gone back to "caring" too much about setting picks, getting the ball to IT etc.   When he sees the green light or mismatch, he needs to drive in

I still think Bender has a higher ceiling than Brown and would have taken Bender over Brown, but have been pleasantly surprised by Brown thus far this year.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I was a big Sabonis guy too. We could have made that trade that The suns did and picked him at #8 I believe.

He would have helped us win games this year. That corner three he's hitting is a huge bonus. Fantastic rebounder.

seriously ... rebounding, stretching the floor

upgrade to Zeller, Jerebko or Amir

Good replacement for Sully (more mobile)

I wanted Sabonis, too, but I ain't hatin' on JB right now.

I would have had Sabonis over Yabusele, but I don't think that was feasible.

Triboy, I'm convinced that when you like a player you foam at the mouth over the most inconsequential of things. I never thought Sabonis would be a bad player. I just questioned, and still question, his upside due to his lack of athletic ability. In fact, I compared his potential upside to Nick Collison, who has had a nice career as rotational player. As is, Sabonis is averaging 7.6 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 1.4 APG, 0.4 SPG, 0.4 BPG, 3.3PFPG, 44.9% FG, and 50% FT, in 19.9 MPG. He still screams rotation player who's lack of athleticism, inability to finish against length, and overall weakness defending is still apparent.

As for Bender, I don't think anyone expected him to have an impact out of the gates. Everyone knew that he would be a longterm prospect that had the potential to be a homerun, as opposed to the safe single of a pick that Sabonis is.

What happened to Mickey, though? Why would you want Sabonis when we have the chosen one? Have you lost faith in the prodigal son?

Are people seriously trying to judge Bender right now? Isn't he the youngest player in the NBA? He's not going to be ready for prime time for at least 2 seasons. That doesn't mean he won't turn out great.

I understand at the time of the draft. Now? I don't know, really. It will take a couple of years for these two to sort that out.
