Rozier is getting min bc AB is down. That's it
Rozier is getting minutes because Brad believes that he is ready to contribute at the NBA level. Brad said this himself, over a month ago:
“I thought that Terry’s really improved and continued to work and his mindset’s great," Stevens said.
"And I think he’s feeling good. He had a good practice yesterday, he’s had great workouts every day. He’s walked through with our first two groups the last few times and I feel good about his progress and trust that he’s ready to go.”Boston has Rozier, Hunter and Young - there is a reason why he chose to go with Rozier over the others. He obviously believes that Rozier is the most ready.
Hell Rozier actually played more minutes then Sully in game 3. Coach is obviously starting to really trust in him, and his minutes are gradually going up.
On the other hand Brad seems very hesitant to give Mickey any meaningful minutes. Even when the depth chart got really hindered with injuries up front, Stevens always went to Lee and Zeller as last resorts. He's gone so far as putting Crowder and Turner at the PF spot when things have gotten really desperate. He's only ever gone to Mickey in meaningless garbage-time minutes.
I really like Mickey and there are times where I wish he did put him out there so I could see what he can do - especially in games where we are being killed inside. But Stevens doesn't seem comfortable putting him out there in meaningful minutes yet, and I guess I should give coach the benefit of the doubt for the time being. He spends more time with these guys then we do - he sees them in practice every day. Maybe Mickey just isn't picking up the defensive rotations and offensive plays as quickly as Rozier and Hunter are, and so coach doesn't feel confident putting him out there for that reason? Whatever it may be, I'm sure he has his reasons. I'm sure we'll see Mickey soon enough.
