Speed, leaping ability, long arms, not a bad shooter either.
I really like this kid.

I called it. Rozier is a far better guard than Smart. He looked more comfortable and his PG skills seems natural.

i admit that on draft day last year when i read the name "rozier" my first thought was "who?"

since then, in very little minutes, rozier has impressed me with his speed and aggressiveness. plus he is a decent ball handler and good passer. so far, his shooting is not as good as we might like, but heck, he has averaged a total of 6 minutes a game in the nba.

i can understand how he might not have established an offensive rhythm.

i like him so far. how high is his ceiling? i cant tell you that.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

At this moment he is by far the best option at #2 PG in our rotation. He may not become a start but a starter, maybe.

The point with Smart is he's already had so many opportunity's to score more baskets with the minutes and different positions he plays.

Soon we may have to accept what he is if he doesn't get better. An Elite defending combo guard that comes off the bench and provides toughness.

Rozier has many gifts that Smart does not, it makes sense to see if he can play the point, he can be much better than Smart on offense.

I think Danny quickly realized Smart's weakness's in the NBA and didn't hesitate to take his personal Binkie Rozier.

Smart is no where near as explosive, nor does he possess the first step, the ability to blow by you, and Rozier already has better handles.

Have to agree here, Rozier has a lot to like. Better than good speed and ball handling, he put pressure on the opposing teams defense. he defends pretty well already, and will get better, with his natural speed and length. I can see him taking some of Smarts minutes eventually.

IMO Kid should be brought along a little quicker.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Rozier has all of the physical tools to be a star, but not sure he has the IQ of Smart - especially on defense, where Smart is already elite.

It's funny that Rozier has basically been hidden from fans until now. He can clearly produce enough to see a few minutes of playing time per game. I have high hopes for his progression.

Everyone needs to remember that Smart and Rozier is not a zero-sum game.  They can both be good or they can both be bad.  Neither has established at the level we would like at this point but both are showing plenty of promise in my opinion.  Solid assets either to keep or trade.

I will say that the emergence of Rozier here at the end of the season may give Ainge more flexibility to trade Smart if there is interest and certainly Rozier has increased his own trade value some.  I also don't think Ainge would be afraid to trade them both and just draft another back up PG (for the right deal).

I think I would still grade Smart as the more valuable prospect but Rozier is doing pretty well.

I wouldn't worry too much about his shooting.  He shot around the 33% - 35% mark from three in college, in summer league and in the D-League so far.  As a rookie, that's pretty promising.

Agreed on pretty much all of the above.

I could see Smart + Rozier possibly becoming a nice duo 3-5 years from now, with Rozier at the PG spot and Smart at SG.  This is assuming Smart can improve his outside shooting to passable levels - if Crowder can be a 35% shooter then I'm willing to put faith in Smart.

If Smart ever develops an outside shot, then a starting five  including Rozier, Smart, Crowder and Mickey could be very interesting defensively a few years from now.

Hell even a ultra-small ball lineup of Thomas, Rozier, Smart, Crowder and Mickey could potential be interesting a few years from now.   Thomas + Rozier could develop into a seriously devastating offensive due.

This is uncalled for... They are very different players anyway, and I don't see why even when praising one Celtic we have to make an indirect criticism of another.

I agree and said it before as ainge didn't hesitate to draft him as our top selection that year despite already drafting smart with a high pick last season and knowing that we still had Thomas. So he knew he'd have 2 good PG but still drafted Rozier despite no clear playing time.

Plus he tried to get Noel for smart.

Both can still play together I believe as smart can slot in at SG as he is not a natural PG.

i agree with greece-last year and earlier this season it was smart doesn't get to the hoop
well that has changed  but is sometimes quite out of control but smart will learn

I remember ppl at Reddit telling me off for defending Danny's choice of Rozier at draft night (and also for saying that if I had to choose, I'd take Biyombo over Koufos for the C's).

Finally, I feel vindicated  :P
