This would be a lot like the Ray and KG deals but we would be trading the pick for Cousins and then signing Durant and not giving anything up. For the Ray and KG trades we had to give up a lot, but in order to get Cousins and Durant it just may take a draftpick......

The thing is by getting Ray we convinced KG but this time if we got Cousins, without giving up more than a pick(essentially), it could def convince Durant to sign here....especially if we promise in good faith to sign Ibaka or Westbrook the following off-season.

This would be the most effective way to become the favorites again and I think we should talk about it bc, like in business, it is good to know the best, probable, and worst case scenarios.

Saying all this I want to know what everyone thinks of a team with KD and Cousins. We still have ppl to re-sign or trade or let walk, and the cap will be going up again, and old FA would prob want to join us to win a chip on a one or 2 year deal.......

Kind of a dream scenario--that Ainge is looking for...

The announcers on ESPN the other night--were saying that Durant might just sign a 1 year deal with OKC---and THEN become a free agent with Westbrook...Which doesn't make a lot of sense, because how can a team sign BOTH of them in one off-season...Unless it's OKC again...?
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

The reason for a one year deal has little to do with Westbrook and everything to do with money.

1)  The cap will keep raising making a max contract larger.

2)  Durant would then be a 10 year vet moving up to the next level of Max money.

the reports of Cousins being a cancer has spawn a lot of debates in many forums including ours. There are no debate on his talent. This kid is a top 10 big in the league no doubt but the debates are always, is his attitude worth the risk. Besides us as fans and teams deciding that risk, I wonder how much is that a deciding factor for superstars like Durant

Does he want to play with Cousins?

They both have played together before on the USA team and they are in the same conferance, so I think Durant knows DC's game. He def knows Cousins is the best center in the league and most rare with his size and length and skill.
I think Durant NEEDS to win a championship to solidify/ add to his resume. What is the one thing the top teams in each conference do not have, a BIG,LEGIT,GAME-CHANGING CENTER.

If we get a deal that allows us to basically give up 1 pick for Cousins then Durant would be dumb not to sign here. A Center that can run the floor-pass-and hit outside shots; all while dominating on both sides of the floor and hitting ft's so he can stay in the whole game. Ibaka is great and actually very rare skill-set, but just like AD, he is not a BIG Center. Cousins is a big-boy and can beast people down low and outside. No one in the East/NBA can stop Cousins ,and unlike other positions in the league, the Center position has the least amount of competition and many teams can get away with playing a 3/4 at the center......can't do that with Cousins for a 7 game series.DC is a great passing C and if put on a team with Durant I think the inside outside threat would be crazy, Phil Jackson would be foaming at the mouth because of the triangle offense we could run.

I think DC would elongate Durants career and improve his numbers....the same for Cousins.

IMO the worse the Kings situation gets the better ours does. If we get the 3-5th pick we may be able to get him....we may need to throw a future nets pick in the worse the pick gets idk.

Hopefully the combine will get these gm's seeing guys in new light for draft night.
