Boston picks
4 - C - Dragan Bender
16 - C - Damien Jones
24 - SG - Dwyane Bacon

So 3 guys with high potential, but high bust potential.  Two big centers and a very big SG.  I guess that would probably be the way to go if Boston keeps all 3 picks.  Might as well shoot for the stars given the current team make up.

He has a real reach at 6 in Wade Baldwin IV.  He acknowledges it is a risky pick, but then explains the reasoning.  Still seems odd to me.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

In general I judge a worthiness of a draft based on where they have the two guys from FSU.

The good mocks have neither Beasley or Bacon in the first and a below average mock has only Beasley. So, this mock fits the criteria for a bad mock because they have Bacon over Beasley and they have Bacon in the first round.

I wouldn't be upset if we went with Bender and Jones with our first two picks. Bender has a high upside and helps us with our crunch for roster space. Jones is a center with legit size and great athleticism. He is a huge upside prospect and I'd be ok if this happened.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Bake is a great guard to come off the bench. Bender is an unproven 7-footer that has not proved himself in anyway besides being tall. He cant shoot, or even defend in the NBA level. Bender has a moderate upside, while having the most downside in the past decade. The guy has Andrea Bargnani written all over him.

None of the players in the draft have proven anything in the NBA. He is playing in league that is better than the NCAA. His defense and shooting have been two of the best htings he has done this season, so I'm not sure where you got your negative points.

Quote
Bender’s most significant contribution on offense has been as a spot-up 3-point shooter.

But Bender’s mobility is perhaps even more promising with regards to his potential defending in space.
Quote
As a help defender, Bender can cut off dribble penetration containing the pick-and-roll as a big and has long strides to crash inside to bump a big rolling to the basket and then closeout to a weak-side spot-up shooter

Horrible mock. Diamond Stone is going 25th here, and we pass for Bacon lol. Not happening.

Personally I rather take a shot at Buddy Hield at 4.  Give us a true scorer off the bench.  He's I think one of the most NBA ready player in the draft.  He'd just give us a great bench shooting guard and if Bradley wants to walk in a couple years he can.  But If we keep Thomas as our starting point guard, we have Thomas and Bradley starting, with Smart and Hield off the bench.

At the 16th pick with Jones, I'm huge on this pick.  Personally I think he's got the biggest upside of all the center.  He's one of the most athletic and all the tools to become great with the right coach.

With not taking Bender at the 4 spot I'd be wanting to take Diamond Stone at the 24th.  I think he's a Perkins type player and we need two centers.  Zeller will be gone, KO is more a stretch power forward, Sully if we resign him is a power forward, Mickey is a power forward, Johnson I think we let walk.

I'll be very surprised if Ainge goes with Bender.

Then again, a draft-and-stash could make some sense if Ainge doesn't think the person he drafts is going to make an impact on the rotation in the short term anyway.

I really, really do not see us utilizing the Brooklyn pick this year. I just think it's much more valuable to us as a trade chip than a way to get younger and more potential, since we're already the youngest team in the league.

I think that we would keep a top 2 pick. If we are outside of the top 2 I think Danny's preference would be to move the pick for an established player. However, last year showed us that even if you make a great offer to another team they aren't obligated to take it.

Tp Wolf. Interesting way of looking at it. Some may see Hield a reach, but if he can't shoot 45% from three on 8 attempts a game then suddenly it looks like a great pick.

I love Hield. Outside of the top 3 I hope we take him, especially if he's available and we pick 5-6. He's going to be a player. He's overlooked because of his age, but I think that's overrated to an extent unless you're getting a guy like AD.

His improvement this year says a lot about his work ethic and he's a lethal shooter. Kid would be great for us

No Dejounte Murray in that mock. Also Stone is too good to be picked that low.

I'm sure it will be a valuable trade chip, but the question, as always, is whether the right kinds of trade targets will be available around the time of the draft.

In this draft, I expect that if the pick falls outside the top 2 and there is a player with All-Star talent available for trade, Ainge will pull the trigger.

If the available trade targets are more on the order of decent starters offered along with lesser picks or prospects, I would hope Ainge uses the pick.
