"Jae Crowder will likely miss at least two weeks with a high ankle sprain, according to Brad Stevens."
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

Probably not as bad as losing Isaiah would be, but this is terrible news.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

So, he'll miss 7-8 games

It could have been much worse with a serious ankle sprain.

Besides, this has been a p good reason far injury-wise, can't really complain. Just look at what teams like Memphis had to go thru.

Unfortunately, I think we are saying goodbye to our home court advantage. Which is ok, I guess. We're still a pretty good team. Hope he and Kelly are fully healthy playoff time.

Coty Clarke likely gets another 10 day due to this.

The good news is that we have a lot of players who can play multiple positions.  We might see Jerebko slide down and see more Mickey, or see Smart/Turner slide up and see more Rozier/Hunter/Young. When KO comes back, we could easily use a 9-man rotation if the rookies aren't cutting it.

It's a big loss, but I think the Celtics will be able to adapt in the short-term.

Bummer.
Smart and Turner with spend time at the 3. I feel that Turner gets the starting nod. Possible Rozier gets extended run. Maybe RJ if he isint useless on the 3 point line

Man, this is horrible news with our upcoming games. This could really challenge our home court advantage status. Luckily, the two immediately behind us (Charlotte and Miami) we already own the tiebreaker with, so they'll have to play 2.5 and 2 games better than us for the rest of the season in order to jump us in the standings. Also, we play both of them at the end of the season at home, so we'll have our chances to keep our position I think. So if he's out until March 28 when we play the Clippers in LA, here's what we'll need to do to keep our heads above water until then:

@ Pacers                 W
vs. Thunder (B2B)  L
@ Raptors               L
@ Sixers                  W
vs. Magic (B2B)      W
vs. Raptors              L
@ Suns                    W

We need to at least go 4-3, but I think we could also very well go 5-2 (beat Raptors at home and/or at Toronto).

The Heat's schedule during that stretch is:

vs. Nuggets
vs. Hornets
vs. Cavaliers
@ Pelicans
@ Spurs
vs. Magic

So they'll probably go 4-2 or 3-3. The Hornets' schedule during that stretch is:

vs. Dallas
vs. Orlando
@ Miami (B2B)
vs. Denver
vs. Spurs
@ Nets
@ Pistons
@ Bucks (B2B)

So they'll probably go 4-4 or 5-3 during that stretch. So barring any other injuries to these teams, it'll probably be a tight race for the third spot by the time Crowder gets back. Luckily, given the facts that we have A) swept both Charlotte and Miami this season, B) subsequently own the tiebreakers, and C) play them both once more at home at the end of the season, I think we're still in good position to keep the number three position if we continue our high level of play.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

What about starting JJ for defensive reasons, at least against Indiana and OKC? He's a bigger, lankier defender that could potentially provide some issues for George and Durant. I just really don't like the prospects of having Turner start off guarding George and Durant allowing them to get going early.

How about smart? I'm sure he could guard at least Paul George for stretches in games.

I agree to start Jerebko, Turner will likely get in early foul trouble if he is guarding George and Durant , plus you lose his playmaking/ball handling off the bench.

  • That's turrible
Turner will probably start since he was our starting SF last year and it worked out well enough. I'm really bummed Jae is out. He's a big part of the team's identity. But now our younger dudes can play a little more. Rozier looked real good and Smart will probably get primary ball handling duties for the second unit since Turner will most likely start. I think they'll hold their own. Just as long as both Olynyk and Crowder can be back for GSW.
