i thought nba power forwards would snap him in two-just watching tapes from spain didn't help that opinion but when he did a draft workout it was wow-
so i got fooled by porzingis but that doesn't mean that danny waiting all this time for a high pick needs to draft a potential bust like bender
there are 3 freaks playing in france one has 7 ft 8 reach-perfect for draft and stash
another thing all these big guys seem to be getting knee problems

TP rollie- as far as the guy with a 7'8" reach I'm assuming you're talking about Jonathan Jeanne, who I love.  I think he could be the second coming of Gobert and would make a great draft and stash.

well, put me officially on the bender booster bus. i think he will be a very good nba player. so feel free to resurrect this thread and taunt me if bender fails.  i will deserve it. ;D

next, the "big 3" mentioned by rollie (and a tp and tip of the hat to you rollie for a good thread) are tempting. and if ainge is going to draft one, or more, of them, THIS is the year. i dont think they are good enough to spend the Nets pick on any of them. their games are too underdeveloped.

but, the mavs pick? the celtics pick? i would not mind it at all if ainge swings for the fences with any of these guys.

Especially depending on what happens in the offseason with free agents, a stash could make sense because the team could just not have the roster space.

I personally wanted Porzingis and I'd still take him. but I think the jury's still out as far as what kind of NBA player he's going to be, and I think the way his body matures will dictate that. and what I mean specifically is these guys with freakish height have yet to have sustainable careers in the NBA esp. once they gain a little weight, which will happen. if he's able to stay healthy playing at a heavier weight the sky's the limit for this dude.

He means the older guy that is 7'3''...they are on the same team and Jeanne has just 1 inch less of a wingspan...Yousaffa Fall, who could also be a great stash and looks to be a 2nd round pick(but idk).

Jeanne has been on my radar for awhile and I think people should search him on this blog for a post/thread I made about him....im too lazy to do it rite now.

here is an article from draftexpress about the 3 French guys:http://www.draftexpress.com/article/European-Dispatch-Getting-to-Know-Le-Mans-trio-of-7-footers-5376/

Jeanne may not come out this year. I hope to God he does so we can nab him and either stash or  if he can play then hell yea! Jeanne is a Rudy Gobert type player and has a better offensive skill set. Also when you compare Gobert and Jeanne you have to remember the age difference when drafted, they are both almost exactly 5 years apart; but Gobert entered the 2013 draft/combine at 20 years old and if Jeanne goes this year he will be 18. Look yourself, its easy because they have similiar d-days

You may be right in that he may gain weight, but I think Charles Barkley was the first to make the point that in today's NBA he doesn't HAVE to gain weight to be effective.  He could play the rest of his career at his current playing weight (provided they don't change the rules) and still be a star.  The game has changed to favor more mobile big men.

He's also currently languishing in New York under terrible coaches, in the only NBA offense that isn't featuring the 3 point shot.  He'd be a MONSTER for Stevens.

Not having a Shaq in the league has greatly changed what you need in a center. KP will get stronger and get cut but he does not need to gain a tremendous amount of bulk ala to contain Shaq.

Your right though and that is why I love guys with length: wingspan and standing reach. 7'5'' wingspan and 9'5'' standing reach are the gold standards. But it is super important that the center also be mobile. Shaq was a freak of nature that I do not know if we will see again.

Nice! Let's get all three and Simmons! That would be a tall line up. Imagine IT next to them?

Seriously though, this is a really cool thread; I love when people think outside the box and make realistic suggestions for us.

These players (the trio of 7 ft er's) are just the type of players we should be considering, especially if we have to use multiple picks.
Truuuuuuuuuth!

Youssoufa Fall
7'3'' w/o shoes, 7'8'' wingspan
I am guessing but he must have at least a 9'5'' standing reach and could go as high as 9'9''

http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Youssoufa-Fall-79277/stats/
I thought he was actually older but he is just 20. It lists that he is 271lbs but the most recent article says he gained 50 pounds, so he may be closer to 300, depending on the dates they updated his profile. He looks like he is in good shape and has a great frame from pics, videos, and commentary.
People should do their own research on his mobility. They say he is mobile and athletic for his size, but has awkward movements at times. Awkward movements could be a review of his offensive game and moves in the post instead of a critique on his mobility.

I have not seen someone this big (including length)and with the potential for such power.

TP for anyone who gets good videos of Jeanne and Fall...even if I have seen them I will give you a tp.

If you think that Bender will be a bust, sure go ahead and give us your arguments...

But saying that you were wrong about Porzingis is not much of an argument rly smh
