Should Marcus Smart be our starting Small Forward?

Temporarily, of course. With Jae likely out for a bit, Marcus would probably do the best job of replicating what Crowder offers in the starting lineup. He's strong enough to guard threes and maybe, just maybe he'll hit the occasional shot. It's not a perfect option, but I think Brad should consider it.

Opportunity for Rozier and Hunter to get some minutes off the bench, with Smart perhaps getting some spot SF minutes off the bench.

It says a lot about youngs lack of development that when our starting 3 goes down people suggest a 2d year combo gaurd along with a rookie pg and a rookie pf getting his minutes and Young isn't even mentioned.

Pretty disappointing.

I do expect him to get a shot here if crowder misses time.

Hope he takes advantage of it because he is running out of time to prove he belongs in the NBA.

The loss of a player like Crowder really tests your depth, something this team has been praised for. I can see the attraction of playing Smart there as a starter but I agree that it makes the team too small. Turner is the better option I believe.

How long is Crowder out for exactly. I hate it when a guy is listed as DTD, or questionable, sometimes even Game time decision for weeks on end

Start Jerebko. Keep Smart and E.Turner in their bench roles. Very effective together in those roles. Extend their minutes from those bench roles but try to keep rotation in tact as much as possible. So start Jerebko despite being worse player. Like Doc starting Scal instead of BBD or Powe in order to keep his bench in tact. Bench playing well. Don't mess with a good thing.

Maybe James Young as starting SF against opponents without strong offensive SF.

This is reason I thought adding buddinger would make sense.  Guy that won't disrupt team chemistry but can give you scal like minutes. 
I'd like to see Hunter get some time but he isn't strong enough to give many minutes at sf.  I'm thinking Brad will go with 3 guard lineup more than usual, being turner guard/forward.  One thing our team needs to be whole for playoff success.  That means Kelly back as well.  No star we need whole team healthy and firing on all cylinders for success.

last game CBS came up with sully & 4 guards. and it worked for a while. it will be interesting to see what CBS does.

I think you will see Turner start if Crowder is hurt. Rozier looked good last night so if Crowder is out I could see him getting time off the bench. Turner already sees a lot of minutes with starters anyway.

Ko coming back soon would soften the blow of losing Turner off the second unit. However with the way Stevens does rotations starters are often mixed with bench players so it's not like you are breaking up a five man bench unit.

JJ or Young.  Need 2 ball-handlers off the bench, especially with no Kelly, and why mess with the chemistry if we're so deep that we don't have to?

Smart or ET would kill our spacing on the floor, and we've got enough offense elsewhere in our starting lineup that we don't need them.

If it was IT or AB who was hurt, I'd probably prefer another ball-handler out there, but Crowder doesn't spend much time at all pounding the ball or initiating the offense.  He's a glue guy who feeds off others.  Turner or Smart might actually hurt our ball-movement rather than help it.

Our second unit will really struggle to generate offense in the half court with neither Turner nor Olynyk in. I think it makes sense to start Smart over Turner for that reason. On the other hand, I'm not sure what Smart is going to be able to do against Paul George - PG is a big SF who will just shoot over him, so maybe we need to put Turner in.

Either way, it's a huge loss. Affects our chances of winning significantly in every game he misses.

Paul George can (and will) shoot over absolutely anyone you put on him.

That's like saying you need to put a tall guy on Dirk.

A physical guy is exactly what you need to take those type of players out of their rhythm.
