Joey Crawford, who'd already announced his retirement at the end of the season, announced his knee's not recovering well enough from meniscus surgery to ref again this year, meaning his career is officially over.

Joey Crawford's retirement is my favorite Joey Crawford memory.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out, you egomaniac.

The best Joey Crawford compliment I've heard was from Mark Montieth, who covered the Pacers for the Indianapolis Star, in Grantland's oral history of the Malice at the Palace (which is an excellent read by the way):

Quote
People complain about referees like Joey Crawford and [his] quick whistle. I guarantee if Joey Crawford was working that game, it wouldn’t have happened because he would have controlled it. He would have called technicals and gotten people out of there.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

what, no last hurrah taking over one final game -- because, as you know, fans come to the games to see him, not the players

Joey Crawford is a disgrace

Azzurri | Juventus | Boston Celtics | Kentucky Basketball

"All the negativity that’s on Celticsblog sucks. I’ve been around when Kyrie Irving was criticized. I’ve been around when Al Horford was insulted. And it stinks. It makes the greatest team, greatest fans in the world, lousy."

Don't let the negativity get ya down Joey, at least you were better than Dick Bavetta.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
eternal attention seeking Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. bag. Good riddance.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Depends what you mean by better.

Bavetta guessed on calls more often and probably missed more calls, but Joey clearly made more biased calls and more "we control the game, not you" calls.

And more needless technicals.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Joey Crawford - the man who always thought he was bigger than the game. I agree, good riddance.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.
