I like Brogdon a lot, he fits the identity of this team in that he can really defend.
However, I'm only in favor of this if we select a couple draft and stash guys in the first or make a trade to consolidate picks. I would prefer not to add more than 2 rookies to the team this summer.
Isn't it more advantageous to draft and stash 2nd rounders as it becomes easier to offer them contracts that would exceed the money they could get in Euro and so give them more incentive to come over once they start getting good?
The really good draft and stash players will be gone by the end of the first, according to the mocks I've seen.
Since we have 3 firsts and I'd rather not have 3 rookies on the team next year, my preferred method involves either a trade or picking at least one draft and stash guy in the first.
I also really don't care what they do with the last 3 2nd round picks. I'm focused on their 5 picks in the top 35. If we are going to target a guy like Brogdon with one of our early 2nds, then for him to fit into the limited roster spaces we have it means we need to go with an additional draft and stash in the first (or a trade).
I'd be fine with more rookies on the roster in the event that we package one of our young players with a pick to move up. For example 3 rookies would be fine with me if we trade the Mavs pick and young to move up and grab a guy like Hield. Then I would be ok grabbing 3 players who are coming over immediately. However, if we add 3 rookies to the active roster next year, that leaves no room for picking Americans in the 2nd.
