19.9 points, 10.9 rebounds and 7.6 assists per game in the nine games since the All-Star break. Kid is playing PG and is just doing whatever he wants out there...I like KO guys, I really do but the greek freak is looking like a star. I badly wanted him on draft night, and now here we are with KO who won't be more than a role player or fringe starter.

Yet another Danny Ainge draft bust.  :o

GA is good, no doubt about that, but I won't necessary call KO a draft bust. He was drafted at 13, and is helping this team reach the playoffs and is improving. His defense isn't great but we can definitely see his improvement from year 1 until now. His 3 has been amazing also. At 13, that's actually not bad...

not nearly the same comparison but it's like saying Ray Allen being drafted at #6 and Kobe at #13...both are all-stars but Kobe ended up being the superstar and Ray Allen a bust for just being an all-star cuz they could've drafted Kobe

I'd rather have Giannis, but there are a lot of other guys who were picked before and after Olynyk who are considerably worse.

I'm happy with the Olynyk pick, I would be happier if we picked the greek Freak, but I'm still happy with KO.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Ehm, I'm Greek, from the same city as Giannis (Athens) and I have lived many years in the neighbourhood he grew up (Sepolia).

I fell in love with this kid from the first moment I heard about him: incredible body, good team mate, high bball IQ, down to earth attitude. Coming from a family that was so poor he had to collect garbage as a kid, he was ready to work extremely hard to prove himself once given the opportunity.

I got rly excited when Danny came to Volos to watch him play, and was very disappointed when we did not draft him. I still watch the Bucks play just to root for Giannis.

Having said this,  it is not without reason he was selected as low as 15, as many front offices were afraid he would be a bust. Olynyk was a safer choice albeit with a lower ceiling.

I'm used to our Canadian Viking at this point, he's a fine player and was a draft good choice, thinking back to the 2013 draft is leading us nowhere.

That whole draft class is one of the poorest in some time. Giannis might make a few All-Star games. Nerlens might become a 1st team All-Defense and possible DPOY candidate if he can ever get out of Philly and play for a real NBA contender. Oladipo, Schroder and Olynyk are great role players. But the rest of that draft class is pure garbage, IMHO. Danny did well to get one of the top 4-5 players in that draft with the 13th pick and I am a guy that hated the Olynyk pick.

I like GA, I really do.  But you know how people on this board can just tell the team is worse with Zeller on the floor, and they are right.  The Bucks are worse when GA is on the floor.  He has a -2.4 +/-.  Why is that?  I have no idea but these things seem to play out the same season after season.

KO's is a +4.   That is like a 6 1/2 pt difference between them.  Do the players around them matter?  Of course.  But position by position I think a lot of this board would trade our guys for theirs straight up.  If you take GA at PG or even MCW, I think most would take a Buck over either Smart, Turner or IT.  At 2 I think most would take Middleton over Bradley.  Even at 3 I think most would take Parker or GA over Crowder.  I'm not sure who their 4 is against Sully, maybe Henson (?) and that might be 50/50, and everyone would take Monroe over Amir.   Yet, we still are the better team and it isn't really all that close.

I don't think a lot of people who post on these boards appreciate that they usually only see the highlights of players on other teams.  Not making a bad play is often the same or better than making a highlight reel play.

I continue to worry about Antetokounmpo's development. Third year in the league, Kidd is using him as a gimmick at PG, and yet he still has no outside jumpshot.

Stats are good, but when you see him play you see there are so many weaknesses to his game that you wonder if he'll ever be able to put it together and play winning basketball in a team structure.

Of course, in today’s ever-changing NBA, Antetokounmpo’s most important sacrifice remains locking himself in a gym to iron out the wrinkles in his jump shot.

“The first time I played him I backed off him. Today, I backed off him again. I didn’t see any improvement,” Bryant said. “I like testing young guys like that. I said the summer time’s the time when you have to make that leap. I was making 1,000 shots a day, so that’s what it takes.”

It’s a simple and accurate assessment. Last April, Kidd told reporters at a morning shootaround in Boston that he had constricted Antetokounmpo to only shooting inside 15 feet, essentially putting training wheels back on the eccentric rising star. This season, he’s still shooting below 38% outside of five feet from the rim.

“Develop my game, just not mess around with basketball,” Antetokounmpo says on how he’ll improve that jumper. “Because at the end of the day, it’s work.”

His game would be so much more complete if he could add a mid-range jumper. I don't know why Kidd has deprioritized that in favor of point-forward duties.

It's not just his lack of shooting, but the way he gets lost offensively when he doesn't have the ball, how he over dribbles when he has it, and how he often gets completely lost on D. He also gets beat up on the boards everytime they play him at the 4 and I see a lack of fight/motor when involved in physical play in the paint.

He's still young so maybe he can put it all together, but I haven't see him improve at all since the beginning of the 2014 season.

Firstly, he was drafted when only 18 and he is now 21 yo. This makes him younger than many players drafted in 2015.

His first year was amazing but he then did not have the development expected. If anything there was a slight regression as his 3pt% has gone down (from 34.7 to 21.6) although he is now shooting  less 3s (from 2.2 per 36 to 1.2).

IMO he is already an elite defender, but his offensive game is still work in progress. The Bucks are still looking for an identity as a team (and are poorly coached too) and this is not helping. In this, getting picked by the Bucks was a mixed bag: on the one hand, he immediately got mins, on the other hand, the franchise is a bit of a mess, which could lead to talents getting wasted.

It's a bit early to say as he is still young, and all sorts of things can still go wrong, but with the  body, athleticism and work ethic he has, I would be really surprised if he does not make to the top,. despite the obstacles. Just give it some time.

Olynyk improved a lot this year.

I'm pretty happy with the draft pick. If Giannis is the only guy to pick before Okynyk, I would say Ainge did well with that pick.

Ainge did well with Smart also. Besides Lavine, who many teams passed, who would you possibly take over him?

The misses are Young and Roz so far.
