I was always behind getting Love in Brad's offense , but he clearly is only a one way player . He is a very bad post up defender , and not much better on switching pick and rolls. He would be great in brad's offense , but he is too much of a one way player .

Much rather have a Jimmy Butler or Horford who can contribute on both ends of the floor.

Zeller had 2 nice post ups on him but Love also opened up a ton of spacing for Irving, found shots when he needed too while still swinging the ball, and essentially fouled Jerebko out of the first half.

He also avoided fouling himself which allowed him to stay on the floor while Lebron rested. Kevin Love was a big part of the Cavs come back in this game.

I agree, for this particular team, I would prefer Horford. He's a better defender and more of a team player.

This is not news. Love has always been a bad defender. Ever wonder why Minnesota never added up to the some of their parts? They had some of the worst interior defense ever. Big Al, Love, Pekovic. None of them could play together. Love is great on offense, bad on defense. Always has been. A very flawed star at best.
CB Mock Deadline - Minnesota Timberwolves
Kemba Walker / Tyus Jones / Aaron Brooks
Jimmy Butler / Jamal Crawford / Treveon Graham
Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko
KAT / Derrick Favors / Cole Aldrich
Picks - 2018 CHA 1st (Lotto protected), none out

  • That's turrible
I generally don't want Love's personality messing the team up. Knowing him, he'll screw with their chemistry. He's too "me first"

No love for Love, no wonder why he doesn't get along with LBJ. He's really struggles with contact. That would mean he struggles with playoff style ball.

I'll pass

Beggars can't be choosers, and we're certainly in the "Beg" category.

We need another star. We already have one in IT4.

IT4 and KLove are reportedly good friends.

We need to be ready as fans to accept whomever Danny brings in here and trusts his plan.

I know I do.

I know I'm in the minority here but I'd happily take Love on this team.
I think his attitude is fine, most of his "frustrations" appear to be created by the media. I mean we live in Boston, we know how the media can fabricate stories on exceptional teams (cough Patriots cough). Even if there is some truth to it, he wouldn't be the first "star" that's had difficulty playing with LBJ.
I think he'll have more of a chance to shine under CBS. He'll be a part of actual offenses under a well coached team, not just get Lebron the ball schemes.
I also think we'd see some stellar and highly effective pick and roll combo's between him and IT4 that would be extremely hard to defend.
Yes his defense is suspect but I think this team can afford to have one mediocre defender across so many strong ones.

Obviously his cost would be what's truly important here, I would never give up Crowder for him... but some combo of the Brooklyn pick(s) and fillers are fine with me.. I just don't see us getting a Love quality player with the 4th or 5th pick in this years draft.

If we can get Love AND Horford while maintaining our core (JC/IT/AB/MS/ET) I think we have the best team in the East.

I worry about his back .

Attitude is not the best , but DA and CBS and the team .....might influence him .   LeBron, and that crowd are a very very bad influence on TEAM unity and locker room moral.   Too many whiners on one team.

We need for the Cavs to fail miserably in the playoffs.  Not to get Love , but to breakup the LeBron dominance of the east.

Celtics can't afford to give Crowder , Smart or IT to get him .

The hunt for such players as Love begins this summer with failure of the Cavs to win a title.

Is he soft?

About like KO .   But he is much better positioning player for rebounds .  He also is not flatfooted. Nice game under the bucket compared to KO.

But older than KO.    KO with more better passing skills though.   In two years KO might eclipse Love in many aspects of the game.

People are over reacting over watching Love play in a system that doesn't fit him.

Love is a good shooter who can really rebound. He is best on a team that moves the ball where he can use his IQ to find good spots and knock down shots. The team he's on features two guys who hold the ball too long and score best in the iso.

That Zeller and Sullinger scored on him in the post isn't that big of a deal. He's a 4 and both those guys are 5's. The Cavs were going small to space the floor, getting scored on in the post is something you give up when you go small.

Put him in a Brad Stevens offense and he is back to his Minnesota days on a team that challenges in the East.
